please don't waste server funds towards it i have l4d but it gets old same thing over and over again and not really worth it theres only like 5 different monsters zombie tank boomer hunter and witch and smoker and not many guns

Well Css can be seen as the same thing over and over again, along with DoDs and TF2. Theres only 2 enemies in Css, either the Ts or Cts.

No. I know my opinion isn't worth much, but I feel the server costs would be better spent on more TF2 and DoDS servers.

The cpu required to run a server for L4D is proportionate to the smaller server sizes. We can run 4 8 man servers at the same CPU cost as a single TF2 server. So that means we can run 16 8man servers on a box that can run 4 32man servers for TF2 or DoDs. How is that wasting money?

I think this all will be decided tonight with the meeting.

Regardless of the rating, I think the big issue is the language used in the game. You can't really justify telling someone not to say something that their in-game character just said.
You do realize that TF2 have characters that cuss right?

On the topic of a L4D division, although I am rather new to the clan, a L4D server doesn't necessarily mean we would have to populate it into the dedicated server arena for everyone... there are private servers with IP/passwords that you can connect to through the console. In that way, it could be ensured that eGO members would be getting the majority of the use of the server. If it is deemed appropriate. I wouldn't suggest putting up too many, however two small servers (one for campaigns and one for versus) might not be out of the question, and the overall cost of building a functional server for the game shouldn't be too high and the computer requirements to serve the game should be kept to a minimum versus what is actually necessary to play and render it.

Personally, IMO I don't think its a good idea. In the intro movie they swear alot, which I personally have no problem with since in 17, but for the younger people in =(eGO)= that is really appropriate. Also there is alot of gore among other things. It is rated M for a reason. So idk forums yes, events maybe, but deff. not servers. That would just be a total waste of resources.

But why have forums and events if we dont have servers? We cant run events on other peoples servers and do the fun commands or change the settings like we do sometimes. Its not feasible without servers.

Now Im not saying get a whole division, but get a server or two like we did in PVK and not have a main area for it, but still give people the chance to join if they so wish to.

No cause that game will die soon cause it will get boring because it will the same thing over and over and it is a AI game with users playing and when the users get bored the game will die

Whats the point in that?
so all the players could go into that forum and talk about the game and set up playing times... just like the other division forums

i'd say half the time eGO players wouldnt be able to connect to the server or would just connect to a different server so having a L4D server would be a waste of money, in my honest opinion

I *HIGHLY* doubt that. Once the SDK is released, this game will be even more popular. The SDK will allow for custom mods and maps.

Why have a division if we dont have a server? We cant recruit on other people's servers. Also, why wouldnt we be able to connect? If its because the server is full that then thats a GOOD use of money.

On this subject, even though we cant enforce what is said in game, we can still enforce what is said by the players and regulate that aspect.

To tell someone they can't repeat what their in-game character said seems like a bit of a double-standard. Now I'm not saying that should be a license to use whatever language you want, however you want. Maturity and respect should still be enforced.

I fail to see why L4D would be "the same thing over and over" more than any other game out there. In fact, with the "Director" system, support for custom content, and future bonus content from Valve, I think this would actually be less true for L4D than most games.

The way the game is now, I don't think a division is necessary, but if they make it so you can have custom mods and larger servers, yes.

I think it'd be pretty cool to have L4D tournaments.
