L4D Division?

I agree that we dont really need a server...I mean it would be good to see a division where groups of people could get together and form squads to go out and fight together.....but as mentioned by other people servers may not be quite a good idea

to be honest I have never played this mod/game (not sure what it is even) been to busy on strand!!!!
Why would you want to take away the forum??

I agree with him. The division tab and events would be nice but servers wouldn't be worth the money.

Really wouldn't be a good addition to Edge Gamers in my opinion, the game is fun though.
Err... not sure I see this a simple "yes" or "no" question.
I think, with a game as popular and new as L4D is, it'd be good for us to have some presence there. Not only would it help keep members of eGO together, but it would allow us to continue to to show potential recruits (as well as sponsors) that we are a community that keeps up with the latest games.
I'd be for forums and a Steam group (so people can discuss the game and create matches), but no official servers. L4D is set up so a lot of people can set up their own servers. Perhaps we could have something like AR where a few eGOs can run servers with pubs and try to recruit. Make it a mini-division where we can still accomplish some of the goals of eGO, but something that does not require the financial support and active leadership of our other divisions.
Sadly, I don't think L4D is set up well for our admin structure, and to be frank, it is not a game I would admin as I really can't see myself playing with people who aren't my friends. I am sure I am not alone in that. But, I still think we can manage to get eGO involved in the game provided we are willing to approach it from a different angle.

L4D is short for Left 4 Dead, an M rated zombie shooter from Valve (and the best game I have played in a very long time!).

Like I said in thread about this, I think L4D is more of a "side game" that doesnt really need its own division. I suggested possible planned events such as vs. matches created on the calendar or L4D group on Steam so people could join up and play, as for a division, I think it would be too much work for something that isnt neccesary.

Ok. Here we go. I really want to see this happen. For the servers, it doesn't work the same as tf2. One dedicated box can run 20-40 INSTANCES of l4d. Meaning at least 20 "servers" of vs. So your talking about 120-160 players on one box as opposed to one tf2 server. As for admin just like any game a plugin will come out in time. All of these games are M rated, so we have "tamed" all of them. If you cant be mature enough to watch your mouth, dont play the game. Even o cN watch my mouth in front of my patents and on the servers. Worse case I would settle for a division without servers. Any who has questions about servers let me know, I've done tons of research on them.
The latest version of sourcemod supports L4D, though I'm not sure about plugins.
Regardless of the rating, I think the big issue is the language used in the game. You can't really justify telling someone not to say something that their in-game character just said.

In same regard were shooting ppl in the head. But we don't have to tell ppl we don't encourage violence. It's understood as being merely a game and not a reflection of real life acts. Just like language. Just because it's in a game doesn't means it's right and ok.

Where is everybody getting the idea we HAVE to have servers? This game isn't set up like that. We can do servers later. Right now the big deal is organization.
