Modem help!

Hi guys,

I have a Cm100 Cable modem from linksys
and a linksys G router

Well my Modem keeps resetting its self, it shuts down the internet every 2 mins, and then restarts it about 1 min later.

Newwave guy was an idiot and was like I dont have a clue what that could be, then told me I might need a new modem, I told him that that was stupid I just bought this one, then he siad let me check something else, told me it could be the cable lines.

Honeslty I think he didnt have a clue, So anyone else want to take a wack at it?

This happened once before I reset whole thing, and it started working,
This time not so much luck, reset it multiple times and nothing.

How long have you had the linksys modem and router combo? how long did the connection work properly?

Do all lights stay green? If you see any red/orange lights, something is wrong. Make sure the green lights are on the usual places (internet, wireless, ethernet, etc.). To be sure, take a look at where all the green lights are when it's working properly. When you get disconnected again, look at the router/modem and see which lights are on/off.

it appears that splitters in the cableline can also cause problems do you have any?

also have a tryed to hook the cable modem to a computer directly, bypassing the router?

In diagnosing a internet problem all the info you can give will be very helpful!!

It's probably a faulty Router, Does it have Warranty ? if so... See if you can send it in.

Ok, first all green lights work properly, then it seems like modem resets, all internet lights go off, then start coming on again one at a time, I have tried a direct connection to modem and had same problem, so its not the router, I have had this router and modem combo for about 2 weeks and it has been working fine, I talked to a tech guy at Newwave, and the guys said that it was showing T4 Errors. He said he was going to send a repair guy out to check lines coming to house, I still dont believe this is the problem, Mainly because everytime I talk to them they tell me something different. One guy says this another says something else. So I have lost faith in them, I dont think its the lines outside because we had those replaced a year or two ago...

The internet stays on, unless I get on the internet, I look at modem and all lights are fine until you start navigation the web or try getting on a server.

I have reset entire system several times didnt help anything.

There is a splitter, but it is a connection booster, not to split a phone line or anything, that is fine. other then that nothing.

Everything worked fine until I reset router today. Could it have messed up settings somewhere?

dought reseting the router messed anything up
and you said a direct connection does same thing so
it a long shoot but do you know any one else that has the same modem or a similar modem that would let you barrow so you can test to see (and know for sure) if its the modem or the line

I've had similar problems in the past and it ended up being the cable lines. Took for freaking ever to get the right diagnosis.

But it would happen the exact same way you described.
