hey guys. i was just wondering if someone could really explain tv tuners to me. im looking to get one soon, and i want to know if i will be able to do what this thing says it can.
im just worried about all these NTSC's and ATSC's and QAM's o.O its so confusing

I'm not exactly sure what your question is. NTSC is just the broadcast standard for North America as opposed to PAL which is used in Europe. So unless you're switching between regions it shouldn't be a concern.

A TV tuner will let you record, pause, and rewind television just like a DVR would for your TV.

im just paranoid that for some reason my cable is going to be the wrong kind or something. -.-

You can hook them up to your cable line and your computer and stream live tv through windows media center/another media center. It has built in DVR, ext. and you can view it on your 360 or your tv

NTSC = North American encoding system
PAL = European (and others) encoding system
QAM = High-definition video encoding system that is transmitted over the air (I believe).

I've got a Hauppague 1600, it's great and works flawlessly with Vista's Media Center.

~Gooda~
