This is especially true of King's writing style. He has a way of setting up a scene that works in a book, but looks terrible in a film. The best example of this is with The Shining:

In the Kubrick adaptation the plot strays from the book enough to make a cohesive film. While the mini-series, which is very close to the novel, feels over baked and stupid.

My personal favorite of King's works are The Stand and The Man in the Black Suit (Everything's Eventual)

On The Stand the book was better than the movie as books are usually better.

It all depends if you like movies or books better I guess or for some other reason.

the mist was horrible you're telling me at the endthey didn't hear the army coming? bull is what i got to say. horrible horrible

It was actually watching the Dead Zone that got me in to picking up one of his books, I have to agree the films just dont do the books justice

I would love to see The Dark Tower put into a movie or a mini series, I cried my eyes out at the end of that, (especially when Jake and then oy died) and a few times during it, yeah I cry at books, bite me lol.
