My vote goes out to the moogles. If I could own one they'd have a much easier upkeep and snuggle-able

In FFXI they water your plants, watch your house, and are apparently potty-trained. Easiest upkeep pet ever.

not only are chocobos very cute, but they are the ultimate mode of transportation! they can travel anywhere (with enough breeding), so long high gas prices!!
chocobos functionality make them much more desirable IMO

Chocobos can actually battle on your team (per Tactics), are awesome to ride around and get you epic things like most of the FF9 final weapons and KotR, and they come in many cute colors.

As a final note, that moogle game in FF7 in the Gold Saucer was terrible.

moogles are smarter they can make/use guns (per FT:A) so w/o a humanoid guide for the chocobo the moogle wins every time !!!
