ati radeon hd 2400

ight i was lookingin my ati radeon hd 2400 settings, and i was wondering, what should i set it up for to run directX 10 fast?

DirectX is an API, not an application (FYI). Judging by your GPU, I would venture a guess to say that the rest of your machine isn't a star performer. Honestly, without a lot of expensive hardware, DX10 is a waste of time. You'd be on low settings anyway and wouldn't get to see any of the pretty effects.

Stick to DX9.

I'll take back what I said then. It seems only your GPU is lacking. You might be able to get some nice DX10 effects with a sufficiently low resolution, but that 2400 won't be able to handle anything like Crysis over 1024x768.

darn, i usualy run 1600 by 1200 if i can.

and i have been trying to convince my parents (really just my mother who is the only one other than me that plays games) that we do need a new graphics card. mainly becuase i try to play assasins creed, crysis, and farcry 2 some times. assasins creed is very slow and laggy some parts on low, crysis cant really play beyond some settings on medium, and farcry 2 can play above medium and some high settings,

Well, whether or not you need a new GPU depends on what you consider playable. I hate anything less than 90FPS....it feels choppy to me, but then again I've got a friend who can play with 15FPS fine. It's all preference.

Eh, I can play the demo with the PC in my sig at 1152x864, very high, it just stops and loads every 10-20 seconds or so at lower settings I'm sure it'd run fine with no waiting... but what fun is that?

i ran crysis demo on my machine @ 1024x768 (the resolution that i really like), & it ran fine for me (then again i have a good nuff video card to take on the graphics). if you wish to upgrade w/o breaking the bank, i would suggest either this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127399 or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161252

you will notice that theres not much difference between the 2 cards. i found that you need 684mb memory on the card in order for the game to work on highest settings.
