Backpack menu? Wtf

Maybe this is all a late April Fool's joke? You know, an April Fools joke released on Valve Time...

New Quest:
Pyros have been taking over Dustbowl. Please kill 100 of them to get your reward.

Progress: 49/100

Reward: Fire Protection Cloak of the Phoenix (+100 Fire Resistance)

All we have to do now is figure out where to turn in our quests.

Are you for real?!?!? :w00t:

I dunno, I think hats and the like could be pretty neat. I mean, I'd love to have a hat of +heals. That'd be sweet. I'm just afraid I might delete the wrong item forever.

wait wth? i'm gone 1/2 a day, and come back to this? wth.

Added the ability for players to permanently delete items from their inventory using the new Backpack menu. This does not reset achievements. Once an item has been deleted it can never be re-earned
be careful.

PLEASE stop jumping to conclusions and saying stuff like "world of fortress 2". >.<

So because there are plans for a few new unlocks...people start assuming TF2's becoming a RPG? Nice leap in logic. No need to look at this rationally, lets just make stupid assumptions about what TF2 will be based on a tiny amount of information.

Chances are, the guys at Valve know a little bit more about game design than most of you. They know what will work, what should work, what could work and what will not work.

That, and there's the option of...oh i don't know..not using the new items? You're not being forced into them, there's no punishment for not having them. Is it so difficult to say 'no i don't like what the new items might be, i won't use them. I am also aware that there will be people who might like these supposed items. They'll play the game with the unlocks while i carry on playing with my old gear?'

Apparently, the concept of self-control is too difficult for some.

...oh God no. You can trade items. (On the other hand, demo afro.)

Eventually. Try it yourself.

That link has shown me a couple things.

One: DEMOMAN GETS AN AFRO. HELLS YES.
"TF_Unique_Headgear_Demoman" "Fro"

^ This is a photoshop and in no way represents what he will actually look like with an afro. Still, one can hope.

Two: We can level up our weapons. >>; "ItemTypeDesc" "Level %s1 %s2" // s1 is the level number, s2 is the item type. Example: "Level 4 Medigun"

Three: GROUP BUFFS. "Attrib_FistsHaveRadialBuff" "On Kill: +50 Health on nearby teammates\nOn Kill: +10% Crit Chance on nearby teammates"

Four: ...grenades. oh god. "LoadoutSlot_Grenade" "Grenade"

Five: More available items than room in backpack. "DiscardExplanation" "You picked up this item but you don't have room for it in your pack."

Valve is making this into an MMORPG. That's the only option.

Just as long as they don't make these new items like the blutsauger, this is true. If they give players an clear advantage, then we have a problem.

However, I started playing TF2 because it was a pick up and play game. No leveling up, no weapons to find or unlock, you spawn with everything you need from day 1. I stopped playing Halo because it became items and deployables and weapons and nades galore; I want a cool gun and I want to shoot people with it, not 10 choices on how to do the exact same task. That said, I have been very happy with the class unlocks and for the most part feel they are well balanced. Still, Valve is walking a narrow ledge with unlocks and items, and we'll see how the feel of the game is affected. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt, cause they seem to have a history of awesomeness.

I figure with the new sniper update we're going to get a headshot proof helment, but it will cost us something in return. Like the amount of ammo you can hold or something.

Probably different kinds of amours you can hold in there, Faster shoes. I personaly like where this is going.
