Windows 7 Release Client

Would you install Windows 7 Release Client as your main OS or Dual boot?

Dual-booting with XP and Win 7 on an AAO w/ 1GB of memory and a 120GB HDD. Works like a charm, there's nothing really sluggish about it. What's more surprising is despite using up more memory than XP, it doesn't feel 'slow.' It feels responsive, and its interface is a lot easier on the eyes.

Definitely making the jump to Win 7 when it goes on sale.

windows7 rc1 is so much better than all other releases , try it guiys , i have it as my main os on all my pcs

I was using the Beta as my primary OS and now will be using the RC (after upgrading) as my primary OS. My only gripe with it thus far has been the fact that Logitech hasn't released any drivers, but that hardly lies on Win7 :P

vista drivers will work with logitech ;)

Bad idea to have it as a main OS...unless you're ok with having to do a fresh install a few months from now.

All in all beta win 7 ultimate beta it was a dam good OS, fast, looked great, and was easy to use. Sadly im not using it anymore though. After having to many driver issues with it ive switched to Vista ultimate but as soon as its released in its full glory i will be buying/downloading it.

I probably should mention i had it set up as a duel boot with XP. Ive still got it and XP installed on one hard drive and Vista installed on another

Win 7 RC will have bi-hourly shutdowns starting the 1st of March next year. Thats 10 months, not a year.

It's not that bad, 30-40 second startup, plenty of time to stretch the legs or take a leak. And if you haven't decided if you like Win 7 in 10 months, you probably never will.

I have been running the beta exclusively on my laptop. Last night I installed the RC. I really like Windows 7. When the retail comes out i will install it on my Desktop PC.

Microsoft hit the nail on the head with this one! :)

Just so you know, all those drivers were actually Vista drivers. The first beta's were built to work flat off everything that ran on Vista. There might be 7 specific drivers floating around by now though.
Either way, both Vista re-installs that I did on the same laptop, caused the much-hated post-install drivers search. So if it's just the Vista drivers, I'm still impressed that I only needed to hunt down the fingerprint scanner.

Im gonna be installing this on my pc in the next few days i have it on a dvd and ready to install I just need to back stuff up on an extra harddrive so i can wipe both my hardrives i have installed.
or maybe ill just wait and buy a new hdd next week. :)

I'm so going to put it on my Desktop, Going to format my windows XP HD to put windows 7 in :)

I've been running the 7100 build on a spare hard drive on my desktop for a week or two here, and I can say that it is a great OS. Very surprised that it installed my video and chipset drivers automatically. The only driver I needed to find was my realtek HD audio driver, in order to be able to swap my audio inputs around. Runs great on 2GB Ram, and all in all, I think it will be a big hit with consumers.

acctually i have no problem with the bi hourly shutdown , i am currently going to school for computer science and it was already stated , i will get a complete retail copy when its avaliable , as for the guy installing logitech drivers , make sure its for the right thing ie 64 it or 32 bit

Literally installed it 10 minutes ago. Was by far the smoothest install out of any OS I've used. Wireless, video card, onboard sound, and every other driver was included.

I've installed and UN-installed it today. I don't like how the task bar works.
