I thought a "best assault rifle" forum would be nice so I am making one. I got as much information on the best assault rifles of the world and this is what I came up with. If you have something I don't know about please bring it up to subject.
Cast your vote and state your reasons.

I will have to give the edge to the AK 47 trusty sturdy and a nice solid round with lots of stopping power. I know its not as accurate as the beloved m16 but in modern days combat takes place in short range. Just take a look at our rotation server :)
 
AK-47 is the best period. To date other rifles strike to be as perfect as the simple and durable design of this rifle. It is extremely accurace, powerful and has a high rate of fire. Can fire under horrible conditions and in any weather. No other rifle on the planet can compete with the AK-47 in an all around contest.

Also don't forget the Ak 101 and ak 103 those guns are basically the same design, however they fire .223 ammo, and have replaced the wood with plastics. It made the gun lighter, and more accurate.
 
I have to agree that the AK 47 is unmatched for its reliability. What it really comes down to is what rifle has inflicted more damage. The answer according to wikipedia the AK has more casualties under its belt!

LOL true Mr. Lightningcount but I had to keep it relevant to the division otherwise I was afraid my thread would be moved :( That is why I only included guns in the game!
 
The ak74 is the best rifle in the game. Its iron sights are extremely accurate, more so than the m16s, and it has a faster rate of fire to take out numerous enemys more quickly than it would with a scoped m4 rifle that is accurate with the aimpoint, but shoots in semi auto bursts. If you want a rifle that is accurate, but has a very fast rate of fire, and a powerful weapon, you should go with the aks74.

EDIT: is this a discussion about all the rifles in the world, or in the game?

Best assault rifle in the game? Let's make sure that we don't confuse them with "Battle Rifles"
such as the FN FAL and the SKS. For example, the marine sniper rifle is a battle rifle fitted with a scope.

My favorite assault rifle would be the SGT's M4. I have headshot many more players with this
weapon than any other in the class. Sure the AK can be dragged thru mud and still fire...
but you can't hit the broad side of a barn with it at a target over 200m and in the game, you
don't need a mud proof rifle. The M16, with its many
variants... is a varmint rifle on steroids. Super accurate and if it has enough energy upon
impact with the target, the projectile will yaw and create enormous overpressured then
vacuumed cavities rendering SEVERE tissue damage.

I was hit with 5 rounds out of an AK47 at about 5-10 feet, 4 hit body armor and 2 of those
hit so hard that the water in my dermis flashboiled causing blisters akin to a 3rd degree burn.
One entered into the hummvee battery toward the outside of the vehicle, passed thru it
completely, and into the second battery (military vehicles use 24 volts) which caused it to
skip out halfway thru the second and then forward into my calf and shin bone... its still there.

So, yes, the AK hits hard... very true. but if you cannot hit your target without expending your
magazine in an attempt to do so... i'd prefer to make upper torso-head shots which the M16
cartridge does extremely well.
 
Out of game the AK-47's durability and ease of production were genius.

In game (my vote) has to be the m4. Sight options with decent accuracy make it a devestating weapon, plus it just sounds cooler.
 
The AK-47 is extremely accurate and can prove to be more accurate at longer distances than the m16. At a high rate of fire the m16 beats it out in accuracy. But if your talking about in real life if i had to be stuck with any assault rifle in the world it would be the AK-47. Yes the m16 is one hell of a rifle, but it is not the best.

I don't want to be argumentative here... but you're forcing me into a corner.

The AK47 IS NOT... nor has it ever been... more accurate the the M16 (any variant)!!!
The AK, however is an excellent guerrilla weapon... is NOT as fine a rifle as the
M16. If you are from a 3rd world country, have no experience with anything
other than how to shuffle mud and dirt around, the AK is for you. It is cheap
to produce being more than 75% stamped metal compared to the M16 being
cast and machined precisely. I have fired many of these weapons in a combat
environment and I'll tell you that I would take an M16 over the AK series.
The problems that were discovered during desert storm have been addressed
successfully and now do not create stoppages during combat.
As I stated, the AK was designed to operated even despite a conscript soldier
at the controls... as were MOST of the soviet forces when the weapon was
fielded. The M16 is and always has been a weapon of professional intent.
The AK is easily maintained but does not require cleaning to function... hence
low disciplined soldiers or conscript/militia/guerrilla's can operate it.
I can go on for days as to why your entire post is inaccurate but that is not
what we are here for, but I will correct non-factual information when present.

I don't care how many times Kalishnikov states that he did not copy the
German Sturmgevehr 44... Those two just look too close in resemblance to not
have been a stolen design...

The russians stole the designs for most of their equipment from the west.

Hell, even the engine for the Mig 15 was won off of a British Rolls Royce designer
during a billiard game!

BTW, this is definitely NOT an attack on you... just stating from experience.
 
the ak is definately a work horse. it will shoot in almost any extreme condition. but an m4 is more ideal in close quarters, medium, and long ranges. in the army our qual range is out to 300m. i knock them down every time. im confident that with practice and ability to see where my rounds impact i could max out the point range of 500m (550m with m16). the 4 is significantly shorter(thank you collapsible buttstock!) than the ak making it easier to enter and clear a room with less chance of getting caught on something.

the m4 is what, like 6.5 lbs w/out accessories and mag? i figure by the time you put on your a-cog, peq-2, sure-fire, pistol grip, tac-sling, and mag its still a lil less weight than an ak. plus have you guys felt the weight difference in a .556 and 7.62 round?!

for you current and prior service members out there, could you imagine executing battle drill 6 with a long, heavy ak?!

to sum things up, i would take an ak to spray and pray missions, but give me that m4 to do some good old fashioned precision firing.

i never said the m16 was a bad weapon. I love that weapon, and the versatility of the m4 makes it a fantastic all around weapon. As far as accuracy goes after owning an AK-47 and having prior military m16 rifle training I PERSONALLY believe the AK-47 to be the more accurate weapon in the hands of a trained marksman. But as I stated before at a high rate of fire the m16 wins that battle. But on contact with the target the AK-47 also has more stopping power but about the same killing power as the m16, meaning the way the 5.56 breaks on on contact makes it just as deadly as the sheer brute force of the 7.62. The 7.62 however hits harder and will drop your target with less shots. The argument here is the best assault rifle all around. In my humble opinion as I said before, if I had to pick one rifle to take with me should i be stranded somewhere and need it to survive, I would choose the AK-47. However I agree with bluefalcon that if I were clearing a building, I would use the m4 because of its versatility and combat effectiveness in CQB.

outdated... yes. old... yes; since ww2, i think. there is always some headway in guiding the basics of bd 6. there are so many parts to add or modify that to stick with it in its strict 7-8 form would surely get many killed. i like to think of it as a loose guideline. personally, i see nothing wrong with having a bradley spit 25mm and its coax to clear the building and send the groundpounders in to clean up the mess. but i guess that doesnt do too well for winning their hearts and minds! lol

now distance wise, i firmly believe that the m4 reigns superior regardless of who is firing it. velocity the .556 has about 800fps on the 7.62 while the 7.62 has about 150 lbs of force more than the .556

wiki shows the effective range on a point target with an ak-47 at 365m and the m16 at 550m (m4 at 500m). i have NOT gone distance shooting with an ak, but i have with an m4 and am very impressed with its performance. i would, however like to shoot an ak so if anyone is in socal and likes to shoot... send me a pm! lol

on the lighter side, walker, there is no 'ctrl' button on Chuck Norris's computer. Chuck Norris is always in control.

...I'm gonna have to go with the M16 on this one. I have fired all of these weapons, thanks to a weapons safety class a few years back. Although there is the sturdy design and dependability with an AK, and lighter with the 74, the M16 is my weapon of choice. I dont want to spray and pray(plus the M249 is better for that :P) cuz I only need to put 2 in the chest and 1 in the head to get my job done. But that is just me.
