I have a buddy who raves about it, but I just can't get past the monthly subscription. Isn't it bad enough that they charge so much for these games to begin with....then they have to tack on a monthly fee? Meh.

EVE is a single "shard" MMO, in which a play can take whatever path he wants to. I was playing industrialist and participating in what I cal Market PVP (the game has a very detailed free market economy that is about 98% player driven, with only a few items left that are sold my NPCs). A friend of my is a pirate (the exact sort depends on what he's planning for the evenings "fun").

The best part is that with the way the skill system works (real time training, one skill at a time, but a skill queue that allows you to queue up skills that take less than a day, with one skill that takes longer) a noob can get the skills to take down a vet (assuming the situation is right) shortly before the trial period ends. You can be a real powerhouse in a matter of 2 or 3 months if you focus on one particular method (e.g., frigates, and the weapons skills for the frigate of your choice). Being in the game longer just gives you the opportunity to train up and have more options to pick from on how you want to do things.

The game isn't for everyone, however. Because it is a sandbox game (anyone can do what they want as long as it isn't exploiting the game), there are a lot of people that take the pirate role. Also, while there are consequences for attacking someone unprovoked in high security space (aka hi-sec), it can be done before said consequences are carried out. This means that hi-sec is safer than lo- and null-sec space, but is NOT "safe". Also, Google for "eve learning curve" for images and you'll see how things are (and yet aren't really). :D

Me, I love the game, though I have to cancel due to lack of time at the moment.

=(eG)=Slusserjon and I, =(eGO)= ValiantFluffy play eve online a lot now. We love it because we don't have to grind out skills, with the skill que you train without being online if you want to. Add me or Jon if you want to talk about it

A few questions...
1. Do you gain EXP/LVLs?
2. Is there marketplaces where you can buy new shuttle parts?
3. Can you command your troops to enter an enemy ship?
4. Is there an in-game currency?
5. How much of the in-game currency would be considered "rich"
6. Can you grind? (ex, continuously destroy enemy ships till you lvl up)
7. Are there alot of different races/types of ships to attack?

Looks like ALOT of fun...

A few questions...
1. Do you gain EXP/LVLs?

No, you train skills in real time.

2. Is there marketplaces where you can buy new shuttle parts?

Yes, its a player based market. 98% of the market is all made by the players, industrial characters, miners, ect ect.

3. Can you command your troops to enter an enemy ship?

There are no troops. Just ships.

4. Is there an in-game currency?

Yes, its called ISK.

5. How much of the in-game currency would be considered "rich"

Billions/Trillions, and really there is no "rich" category.

6. Can you grind? (ex, continuously destroy enemy ships till you lvl up)

This isn't the type of MMO, you 'grind' to gain xp.

7. Are there alot of different races/types of ships to attack?

Yes. 4 races. Caldari, Gallente, Amarr, Minmatar.
Ship types, Assault ships, battlecruisers, battleships, black ops, capital industrial ship's, carriers, combat recon ship's, command ships, covert ops, cruisers, destroyers, dreadnoughts, electronic attack ships, exhumers = miners, force recon ships, freighters, frigates, heavy assault ships, heavy interdictors, industrial ships, industrial command ship, interceptors, interdictor, jump freighters, logistics, marauder, mining barges, motherships, shuttles = win, stealth bombers, strategic cruisers, TITANS = biggest ship in the game.

You can control POS's(Player owned stations)

And yes, its a lot of fun.

I wish i had the time to play again :(
