We need more than your motherboard model...What we really need is your CPU (make and model).
MaximumPC has a great overclocking guide for both Intel and AMD processors with step-by-step instructions. My suggestion would be to print out their guide and try that first.
The core i7 now works with QPI (Quick Path Interconnect) Instead of the usual FSB for other CPU's.
In the BIOS change the following settings:
BASE CLOCK (BLCK) : 170 (133mhz is default)
vCore Voltage: 1.28 (1.18v is default) [ You could use as low 1.25v but not sure how stable that is)
This gave me 3.4GHz w/o turbo and its been running stable and smooth. Make sure your computer can keep it cool![]()
with that ASUS P6T and the 920i7 all you need to do is go into the BIOS, find the overclocking/tweaking section and select whether you want to overclock to 2.93 or 3.2 Ghz (the other i7 clock speeds). With that motherboard voltages and frequencies should automatically change to what is needed to suppoprt your overclock. Im sure you can also visit Asus' site and download the motherboard manual.
Its also recommended that you have the latest BIOS version, but I would not recommend it if you havnt updated your BIOS before.

How easy can it get to update the BIOS? Click 4 buttons or something...:bored:
You realize you can clock the i7 to speeds other than 2.93 and 3.20 right? I had mine at 3.4 then bumped it to 3.6ghz.
Also the P6T BIOS doesnt need to be flashed, mine was OC ready out of the box.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-usIve tried the BCLK to 170, but it didn't work and the CPU temp rose quickly, but put everything back and i don't know what you guys are talking about the vCore because i looked around and didn't find it or anything about multipliers
keep at auto for best performace
