Can't infantry hitch rides with a tank crew? WWII footage they do it all the time but with safety regs today.... Dunno. I'd probably go with the party theory.

i dont know about the old shermans, but the m1abrams can only hold 4 personnel. thats why infantry has the bradley infantry fighting vehicle, but its nothing close to a tank.

I don't believe you can ride the M1Abrams because it can go somewhere around 60mph. Just a hunch. Which means it has to be a party!

recondo, our chain of command would have shot us themselves if we ever caught a ride like that. but we didnt patrol with tankers. those guys like to sit and we like to walk for some reason.
