Futurama to be recast????

Apparently according to some sources and articles fox has failed to sign on any of the returning voice actors for the new season of Futurama set to air on Comedy Central next year. Fox is also apparently going to proceed with recasting new voice actors. THIS WILL NOT STAND!! NO NEW CAST!! ORIGINAL ACTORS OR NO NEW FUTURAMA I SAY!!

Apparently a lot of people think they will make a deal and that this is just sort of a marketing ploy to stir up more traffic on futurama and see how bad people care about it. Needless to say it better be or Groening and Cohen better not show up at ComicCon without some sort of protection!

Probably not, this is only happening because the series was thrown back into production. Unfortunately when they went to hire the original actors; Billy West & Katey Sagal want like $70,000 per episode.

This is a bad turn of events, mostly because Billy West plays roughly 60% of the characters
 
It sounds like this may just be unresolved contract negotiations - the voice actors were making $$$ when Fox was underwriting the production, but now that Comedy Central is the underwriter, the voice actors will only make $$. Less money = less production value. If the current cast of voice actors do not want to make less, at least we'll still get more Futurama, maybe not as 'good' as the original, but still something.

Hope the original cast can come to terms though :(
 
I agree that it sucks. But most of the voices are done by only a handful of people (ie: Billy West). And the rest can probably be faked pretty well.. Hell i'm a crappy (read: semi-good) voice mimic, and even i can mimic most of the Futurama characters with enough practice.

So this does suck. but i don't see it being a huge problem. Fox is smart enough to know that these adult cartoons are riddled with fan-boys (see: Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, etc) to know that if it doesn't sound 100% spot on that people will riot, burn down fox studios, and the show will fail.

So.. That being said... I don't see it being a problem.

I have to agree, I'm pretty optimistic about this. While the voices might not return...the writers will.
 
I think the (if there is) new Futurama season with new voice actors will be a flop. People have adjusted to love the original voices, changing those will just... just... fail.
 
I forgot to add from my first post if this is true Fox had no faith from the start and wanted to bring Futurama just for the money. Just look how Family Guy turned out since it was brought back and now how it turned into a political type show.
 
If they change the voices, every time i hear the new guys I would probably cringe. A lot.
 
I would hate to see a futurama with out billy west, but dan who plays homer on the simpsons makes alot more then 70,000 an episode. I think if it is new people they will sound pretty much the same, lot of copycats kicking around, alot they may have to cast 10 people to fill in for billy, and i wouldent want to hear anyone else besides John for bender, but thats the hardcore fan boy inside me.

I had a deep and thought out conversation last night with a friend about this topic, just after consumming 12 beer or so haha so its fresh in my mind :D
 
this is an outrage, this is quite possibly the most atrocious thing ive ever heard, KEEP THE ORIGINALS.
 
Well, I have mixed feelings.

On the one hand, I am just happy to be getting new Futurama, regardless of who the voice actors are

On the other... dont change my futurama, its the greatest show ever, throw something out of whack, even just changing the voice actors and it may end up not feeling the same or ever being the same.

oh well, not like there is anything we can do about it, just be happy there is new futurama coming
