So are we supposed to wear our tags with the ? or not?

I believe people in INS (and Neotokyo) do not wear the TM because those games don't allow special characters. As far as the other games- the TM is required.

If you use it in INS, it cuts off your name after the TM.
Other than that, Edge Gamers is a registered name, the TM signifies that.
