Mobo: Asus M3N72-D
RAM: Corsair Dominator (2x2GB)
GPU: Nvidia 8800gt
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB
PSU: Ultra LSP650 650-Watt
Case: Cooler Master Storm Scout
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit
 
you should get a 64 bit os on there with the 32bit vista your olny able to use a bit under 3.5 gigs of your ram
 
i will build soon, but im still thinking of taking either the i7 920 or the amd phenom 955 BE, can u plz tell me the preformance of the phenom and btw great build!:drool:

Well the 940 according to benchmarks run's really close with the E8400 and beats the Q9550 in a lot of categories. I saw the performance of the 940 first hand and its fast! :D
 
Nice case btw. I would add the side fans as well with either a filter or use panty hose as a filter to keep the air out. But make sure to keep the air pressure correct so you have the same amount of air going in as it is going out. Heat rises so keep the back fan and the top as exhaust and the front and side for intake.
 
Nice one, I have the same processor as well and it is beastly. But why the 8800GT of all things? :3
 
ya u should get the 64 bit and i also would have built an i7 system but too late now lol.
Nice build though, did you win that case from eGO?? haha cause we were giving those storm scouts away. I have a HAF 932 but i think you should put some side fans on that case, i heard it performs well if you put x2 120mm fans or watever fits there on the side panel.

ummm from wat i've read and heard, at stock speeds, the Q9550 beats out the phenom II x4 940 and even the phenom II x4 955.

The Q9550 beats it in basically every section from this review and even most games. Honestly i really do prefer intel over amd in the processor war but i love ATI for the GPU's.

But it was still good choice to go with the Phenom II x4. Those are on brand new sockets while the LGA 775 are discontinued now.

I always thought side fans were mainly to take hot air away from the graphics card...

ummmm no because side fans dont pull air out, they push air into the case and it basically cools the card since its bringing in cooler air. The fans that pull air hot air out of the case are the top fans and the back fans or basically exhaust. The front fans and side fans are intake fans and well as fans on the bottom of your case if you have one. I know my HAF 932 can have a fan on bottom and basically it acts as another intake.

ummm dont you want a lower air pressure inside the case??? so air gets pulled into the case and the exhaust fans can just pull the air out?? i mean that would make more sense, it increases air flow and the amount of air you get into your case.

zzzz some company should just make a high end case where it acts like a refrigerator or has a built in AC lol that would be pretty sick
