Most HD manufacturers make a diagnostic tool for their HDs; check the manufacturer's web... if it's a prebuilt computer you may have to open it up and see who the OEM manufacturer is. You could also check the BIOS for the serial number and google that, it'll likely pull up the manufacturer.

is what's in the left monitor a "full screen" app/video ect (like TF2 or a full screen setting from hulu). If so then this would be the problem; there is no way to run a "full screen" instance of something and still use the other monitor, as even though you have 2 monitors you have 1 screen :P...
