I liked them WAY back when they were still smallish and built PC using off the shelf parts as opposed to proprietor parts that Compaq and HP used to use.

Tick maxes makes sense as it limits the amount of load the server takes. If you let folks use higher numbers it might start stressing the server and effecting everyones gameplay.

Hello, sorry to bump but can no admins pipe in if it's new or not?? Or like to know why it's even there as it kills the server for folks with lower FPS.

If you want to keep dust down in the first place you can make your PC positive pressure inside. Meaning have more fans blowing air inside than fans blowing out.
PSU and the graphics card is two you can't switch, so flip all the others around so they blow inward. Then on those fans use a DIY...
Other servers do have them, but didn't put those on my favs due to the fact they had mins.
Put the same question on the Tech forum, see if any admins answer it..

You mean manually set them? No. TF2 no longer responds to the CL_UPDATERATE and CL_CMDRATE console commands on EGO servers. They stick to the server defaults.
Commands themselves still work as I see they have an effect on other servers.
Been playing EGO server for years (great servers btw) but now I find that CL_UPDATERATE and CL_CMDRATE now have server mins and I'd swear that they didn't before (but I am getting older... my mind...:P )
My FPS is not the best and I used to drop the rates down so I don't get killed with choke...
