40GB's on CD's?! Nice one. ;) And I'm just reinstalling XP, not upgrading to Vista. And yes, the computer might die, but maybe the HDD stays alive. All I need is guarantee that if I split the hard drive, the install won't touch it.

Of course I will. The files I need weight only about 40gb and my HDD is 250 so there's plenty of space for the main so I wouldn't get confused. But does this really work? I need a guarantee because I don't want to lose all the games and game mods I've collected. >.<

Putting the files into CD's and stuff... But that doesn't matter anymore. I found another way - hard drive partitioning. If I do separate the hard drive in two, will the install touch the other one if I do reinstall Windows?
