Hey everyone,

Lately interest in Minecraft and Minecraft related things has hit a new low. Despite this, Minecrafts leadership works effortlessly in the division to keep things alive in the division. There have been many ideas brought to light and countless suggestions on how things should be ran. Most of this discussion has been about what type of server everyone would like to see. The two servers we have had in the past year Skyblock and HCF were not voted on by the community. Which in my eyes has led to a lack of interest. This post has a poll attached two it with three options. Continue with HCF, Skyblock or Survival (SMP). These are the three ideas most community members have floated around. While other things like Prison and Oneblock have been suggested they seem to have very little interest. Whichever of the options receives the most votes will be what the Minecraft Leadership team works towards. As right now, there isn't enough interest the game to have multiple servers running.

For HCF, this is the server that is currently up and running however it has failed to attract larger interest. Some have suggested tweaking it slightly or changing the ways the server resets. If you would like work to continue on this server to improve it, vote for that option.

For the Skyblock option, this would revive the Skyblock server we previously had (Maybe with some small tweaks suggested by the community).

The Survival option would require time. As the server would be built from the ground up. This option would be a hard launch. Meaning lots of time and effort would go into the server long before its ready to launch and would come with many ideas suggested by the community. Such as events and other things.

This poll is important because it will decide what work the Minecraft Leadership does and on what server. It is also a way for you to tell us what you want to see from us. If you have ideas for any of the three options please feel free to comment them below. They will be read and considered. If there are suggestions for the current server, please make a post in the suggestions thread.

Those of you who are interested and invested in the game. Reach out to me. We are always searching for talented individuals who want to take on extra responsibility within the division! Such as Events, Training, or for filling Leadership roles.

I hate to say it, but HCF was sort of doomed from before the start. I feel as though the eGO population wasn't really considered in that decision. Which is fine, we live and we learn.

Skyblock was already started and, like HCF, failed to attract larger interest. By the end, it was just Trippy Trippy and I just hopping on to place more spawners. I think Minecraft servers in general is quite a competitive field, but SkyBlock is such a niche game mode that you have to have the taste for it in order to enjoy it.

Survival, hands down, might be the most popular option of the 3.
It was said multiple times throughout discord and I believe would have the most success. However, we need to take time and poll some decision making in order to have a successful server. I know majority of decision need to be handled directly through LE, but some plugins and decisions really should be voted on. Maybe before any decisions are made on the server, a discord Q&A could be hosted? The turnout might not be anything to crazy, but those, like myself, that are interested in creating a beautiful SMP server may have questions/suggestions. As someone that has worked on multiple MC servers and knows a lot about the backend, I know I would show up to something like that.

TL;DR -

HCF= No
Skyblock= Eh.
Survival= Yes, but let the players help to an extent.

So, I've been here for idk how many MC iterations.

15 people want survival? Is that what I'm understanding here? Can someone explain to me why? Why would this time of MC survival be any different then the last idk times we've tried this?

Right, because if we keep doing the same thing and expecting different results, that's stupidity.

None of us are stupid.

So what's the deal?

ducks ducks you seem to be committed to this.

I understand your perspective, Ric Ric . You’re right that eGO seems to have gone through several versions of MC before, and doing the same thing repeatedly probably won’t lead to different results. Note I wasn't there for most of those.

However, I believe the main difference this time is the approach. Saf Saf made it clear that leadership wants this version to be community-driven instead of just a decision from the top. ducks ducks also mentioned that survival has the strongest interest right now, but players need to be part of the decision making process, including plugins, events, etc.

If the community is more involved from the beginning and if we take the time to set up the server properly instead of rushing, survival could turn out very differently than it did in the past. This isn’t just about "trying survival again."

So yes, if we just throw survival up the same way it was done last time, I’d agree it won’t work. But if we treat it as a collaborative project with clear planning and community input, I believe we can make something players actually want.

That's my two cents.

Because with SMP there is no competition. You can jump in at any point in time and you're not trying to compete with any leaderboards. Sure maybe with a /baltop there might be competition there, but I for one could care less.

No ranked, no seasons, no bullshit. Just fun.

I think SMP is a good option and probably the safest way to go, for the reasons already mentioned. Personally, I’m open to any ideas anyone has, but it’d be awesome if we could as a community, get behind one direction and give it the push it needs to really take off.

The way I see it, in the long run, Minecraft should grow organically. The same way CS did. That means not pulling from inside, but instead bringing in fresh people from outside our community.

Correct. Minecraft is a bit different because there are not "Server Lists" if you want new people you have to find ways unique to bring them in. But I think from my past experiences we did best on SMP. Thats not to say we cant do events that involve modded MC games etc.

:) yup, but hey
You can find server lists; will be bringing this up with regards to voting, etc.

I would definitely hop in and play on a survival server. I remember the good ole' days on the survival server. As long as you can protect your shit and there's stuff to keep playing, I could see myself regularly playing. Used to have the resetting "mine world" including it's nether and end (now theres tons of other worlds I'm pretty sure), player shops, and then all the different events like Master Mind and the sort with player rewards. And yea voting rewards too (like the old dragon eggs for the OP picks and stuff).

I feel like some Hunger Games or minigame-related server would translate better to this community

I've been getting back into MC recently and seeing this makes me happy. The obvious first hurdle would be player base and getting ourselves out there for visibility.

I think maybe bi-weekly and monthly re-occurring type events would be awesome to have too, and even seasonal ones as well:
  • Treasure Hunt with riddles
  • Speedruns but in the style of "simon says" (Shark says first one to get diamond armor gets a point, person with most points by end of event session wins)
  • If there are enough participants/interest, a bi-weekly CTF with pre-made forts inside a closed-off area (to prevent ridiculous flanking).
  • "Hardcore Night", last player standing wins.
  • "Raid Night" where we'd have a custom world that starts players at the beginning of a dungeon and work their way to the powerful dungeon boss.
  • "Interior Design Challenge" where players are given a premade empty house and decorate the inside however they want.
I think a nice "seasonal" event would be to have community members compete in building a server spawn area for the upcoming season (start the winter competition in the fall). This makes it feel more inclusive and allows community engagement for the server while also getting a new holiday style spawn.

Prizes could be things like temporary Discord roles for winners, one-of-a-kind enchanted items for survival, 30 days of dedicated supporter. I'd be willing to sponsor better prizes such as headphones or gaming mice for some of the bigger events.

These events could be rotated between competitive, cooperative, and casual so that different types of players can stay engaged.

I'm personally at the point where mods are a requisite. Light modding can really provide some QoL and keep people coming back. Not sure if the past iterations have been modded or not or if that's something the leadership would consider but I think it would help player population stay healthy.

I will say this in the only 1 server I hopped on and played on there were rules that imo don't fit what a lot of players like. Specifically when zombies was a thing, it was a great game mode imo and had a bunch of us interested but you couldn't pvp other people and when you did you got in trouble "there were like areas you could pvp but like you basically couldn't pvp due to certain area pvp restrictions", you couldn't break into peoples bases to raid or you get in trouble but then when it happens to you literally nothing happened. Just from past MC LE and times where I brought up to 15 people from CS to MC to play on their servers almost daily all of us were treated as though our opinions didn't matter and we were treated WAY harsher and different from the "minecraft" division players. That was a major problem with past LE that I think was a big reason the population dropped drastically after a week on that specific server.

On another note I personally think if MC wants to thrive, it has to get CS players involved in it just based off of the amount of players it can bring over, hopefully CS Le team has the connects with the player base that we used to have and can bring people over to play on it. Just my thoughts from seeing the MC server change over last 6 years and how the population has changed at those times.

I’m not sure how many of you remember me, but that’s not really important—I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Personally, I’ve always preferred a good Survival world over Factions. I’m not really looking to compete or worry about being raided; I just want a relaxed place to build, experiment, and hang out with friends. That kind of chill experience is harder to enjoy in Factions when there’s a constant risk of other players sneaking in and destroying your stuff.

For a Survival spawn, I’d actually recommend keeping things extremely simple. You don’t need a big, detailed hub—just an unbreakable box with the server rules, a few helpful tips, and a random teleport NPC. Place it out in the void so it’s purely functional.

One important thing: make sure players know how to use the /home command (and that they actually have access to it). Survival is a lot more enjoyable when people can set a safe place to return to, especially when the world is large and they’re exploring far from their starting point.

The idea is that players should only be able to leave spawn by using RTP, so everyone begins in a fresh, unexplored area. A traditional walk-out spawn tends to become a battleground for griefing and territory fights right away—something many Survival-focused players aren’t looking for.

Keeping spawn minimal helps preserve the world for creativity and exploration, while giving everyone the tools they need to enjoy their own space.

might i suggest a different approach? i dont know how many people would ever get be on board for it, but cobblemon is pretty good. being able to catch and trade pokemon with each other would be super cool.
