Canadian guitar retailer

I am looking to start playing the electric guitar, just as a hobby and I am wondering if anyone would know any good Canadian e-tailers or shops in Vancouver where I could pick up a good deal on a guitar, along with an amp and associated cables?

well although its not canadian, musiciansfriend.com is the website I use, and it sells alot of canadian guitars and such. My own guitar is a Seagull S6 Acoustic Electric, very good and shipped very well from canada.

Just a tip. Acoustic is better to learn on IMO. gets your fingers used to pressing down the strings harder, and then playing the electric is like BUTTA.

Im pretty used to pressing down strings (played violin for almost 11 years), so I have callus's (sp?) developed.

Long and McQuade sounds pretty good, has anyone had any experience with them? I had a look and their guitars aren't too expensive either, maybe I could go instore and pick one up for for a good deal =D.

Yeah, Long & McQuade is a good retailer, you may also want to check out Tom Lee Music. The Granville Street location is huge, with lots of selection.
