dod:s skin install issues

hey i have a problem installing costom skins to day of defeat.
i have placed the v_ files correctly, but there is a bunch of other files im unsure where to place, when i have them placed in the material/models folder my weapons turns pink and the scopes are as well meaning i cant see anything.


if anyone can help me, eventually make a tutorial it would be nice.

Normally with a skins pack it will have two separate folders that you must copy to. One will be the models (the gun's form), and the other is materials (texture maps). The normal file paths are:

Textures:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\admiral_bomb2\day of defeat source\dod\materials\models\weapons\v_models

you need to put the *.vmt *.vtf files in their right sub-folder (e.g. bar)

Models:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\admiral_bomb2\day of defeat source\dod\models\weapons

Put any files that are *.mdl, *.phy, *.vtx, or *.vvd

That should do it, at least as far as weapon skins are concerned.

Just want to know where is the best place (and safe) for downloading skins, etc.. for dod?

FPSbanana is not a safe place to download skins. Its riddled with viruses and hackers. Better yet don't use skins.

I learned that the hard way with my old computer.
