Hello everybody, it's Drambar.
I recently thougth about seeding and our own mothernature.
There are some positive sides with seeding and some negative.
Positive sides first:
Helps eGO
More players 24/7
More servers (maybe)
Better ranks and so on...

Negative:
You will release a massive amount of CO2 if you are little your computer be turned on a whole day just for seeding.
Your eletricity bill will go up.

So here's the question? What is more important? To have the servers reach a higher rank or to save mother nature???

There's no negative effect from seeding. Plants turn co2 into oxygen. Power bill? Play with no lights on and don't keep on lights in other parts of the house when not necessary. Problem solved. Now, get into the servers and help us out!!!!'

My computer is on 24/7.

No offense, but eGO is about gaming. There are other groups for "saving mother nature."

Monitor off, sounds off......Mother Nature herself seeds on eGO servers.... it's true she loves playing spy in tf2

Yea my computer is on 24/7 anyways, im at college so western michigan is paying my eletricity bill not me (however this might be part of the reason my tuition goes up every year, or it could be because were turning into a communist country, but thats another arguement in itself)

I alway seed, one because someone has to seed the pl server and Liquidtoenail, mrcool, and ocationally misteradam can't do it all by them selfs.
plus the other day, i got a new hat. (eat it artinz :)

its called seeding isn't it? I think mother nature wouldn't mind.

Funny thing, that save nature day some months ago, when everybody used 0 electricity for an hour, people were all oh! we are saving the planet now, and then they go back to their regular routine.
Dunno why people care for one hour and then rest of the time, they don't.

LOL, your right. I never play with light on and I mean... If you have a small laptop that is only really good for spread sheets, put TF2 on there, Run everything in low and just close the top or turn off the screen. ;)

That's crazy. IDK the amount of energy that is used in 1 hour, even if it is at peak times, but in perspective of how much we actually use, it's extremely little. Silly humans.

I think the question you should be asking yourself is "Which server should I seed?

What was i afraid off.
When i made this post i was thinking, hey maybe people will think about how much energy they use, but it turns out, they are talking about seeding more

Well there are a lot more energy wasting things then seeding, and Its not seeding in particular, its computer usage.

I don't seed in the summer because my compy heats up and makes my room hot, which then needs to be battled by das AC. I was all fine when I was sucking all mah power from school, but now at home I don't want to give money to the power company. When I need the space heater in the winter might be a different story.

Someone doesn't own an antec 900

The case and amount of airflow doesn't matter. Neither does liquid vs air cooling. The components still generate the exact same amount of heat. It's how quickly the heat gets removed from the component that changes. Still the exact same amount of energy(heat) getting blown from your computer case into the room.

Actually the antec will draw more power directly cooling the parts than letting the head dissipate into the atmosphere of the room to be dealt with by the AC. (This works because the thermostat is not in the same room as my computer. So AC will run the same amount antec900 or not.)
