A Message From Artimus

How do you like the image above? I hate it... and I made it. But that's what eGO looks like without the help of some very talented artists. Lately we've been asking way too much of these talented folks, and quite frankly, burning them out. So, here's my way of giving them a break. My apologies to the art community at large for my lack of talent.

So, why the "no-money" image? It's not to say that eGO isn't able to pay the bills, although we are month to month at best. It's to say that we have heard your complains and will stop hitting you up for donations at every meeting and with every news posting. There is a balance we need to find between getting our finances taken care of and having fun, which is the main goal of eGO. We hope you will forgive us for not managing this better and will enjoy getting back to gaming and talking about gaming.

Another complaint I've heard is that some of you have not received items that you've already paid shipping on. This is unacceptable and will be fixed. Again, we ask for you to forgive us. eGO is not a professional shipping outlet and we are learning as we go. JohnT, by putting in long hours and miles getting to meetings with manufacturers, has acquired a staggering amount of cool gear for the community to enjoy, but getting it to you has been a challenge. We'll work to meet our obligations and will also take any suggestions that you have to help us with shipping matters.

On an unrelated note, the Council has accepted the resignation of DrunkenSailor. Russ has been a long time leader and has done a lot to shape the policies that have helped us to succeed to this day. Russ will be spending more time with his family and getting that roof mended. All of eGO wishes him well and thanks him for his dedication.

Regarding asking for donations, it's sad and disappointing that folks have complained. Servers, HLstats, this website, etc. are not free and shouldn't be taken for granted.

Thanks Artimus for the update. I know it seems like you guys are begging to us for donations from time to time, but the simple fact is, is that the servers don't run themselves. It takes money to run them, and we should all do our part to help. Whether it be donating directly to eGO, clicking on the Yahoo ads, or using the eGO Mall, we should all do something to help.

As for Drunken, I'm sorry to see you go. I fully understand the personal side, as I have 2 little girls that I don't want to miss watching them grow up. I do what I can to help eGO, but most of my time, I put in late at night after they are in bed. Happy trails, my friend and I hope to see you back here soon.

This post is really depressing... lets recap:

1. Artimus made a bad mspaintage. (ahh it burns!)
2. The artists (who were not named?) are feeling overworked, and unloved.
3. Artimus feels like people have been nagging him about nagging people for donations at meetings and on the website enough that he is going to stop. I don't think this is the best move for the clan, honestly, if you do not want to donate then do not donate. If the request bugs you that much then there must be something inside you drawing you to donate to the community you love, so go ahead and throw in $5 for the team. It doesn't have to be much, anything in the pool will help. The requests are made not only to remind people that its possible, but also to spark that feeling in fellow edgegamers, I would be okay if they asked me to donate every time I visited the website, this splash page could also include yahoo adds as another way of helping this community to stay afloat.
4. Drunken is leaving Although I really only knew him from the silly southpark picture that represented him, I know he meant alot to the community, and I feel like ive lost something just as much as the rest of eGO has.

TLDR: artimus makes funny mspaintages, let the nagging for donations stay, show some love to the artists, and pce drunken i'm sure you were a cool guy.

On a serious note about donating.. There should not be any complaining at all about donating, nor complaining about wanting people to donate. I myself have only donated very little, but it will change soon. I love this place and it has become a quick family with alot of great people.

How many people have change jars, or cups in there car that has change in it? How many people actually lift their couch cushions and find change there? I know that here on the east coast we have a thing called Coin Star. YOU DONT HAVE TO ROLL COINS anymore... HAHA... Take that change you find cleaning the car, the couch where ever. When you are at the store, find the coin star and get cash for it. Most people go to the bank at least 2 times a month and can deposit it then. That would not be out of the way, and Paypal will take it right from your bank... hehe See how simple that is to help your "other" family?

I myself think it's a very small amount, but with the actual members we have, if everyone would donate just a small amount it will get big!

Ok, I know I have prob not made any sense what so ever, but it will make you think!

First off, Good Luck to DrunkenSailor, he will be missed!

Second, I appologize if this sounds harsh, but I'm a little upset. People are complaining about donation requests when it costs them NOTHING to be a part of this great gaming community? You have great admins that donate their personal time to help make these servers fun to play on "AND" a lot of them donate money as well. You guys play on these servers at no cost to you. You guys participate on this website at no cost to you. You guys have a Vent server at no cost to you. The LEAST you can do is keep quiet if the donation requests bother you. What you SHOULD do is donate a few bucks a month. The LAST thing you should be doing is complaining about donation requests.
