I'm currently taking a leadership class in school (sophomore). Today we were asked to think of a few Community service things we can do as a class. I'm kinda having trouble thinking of good ones so I'm asking for help! So if anyone can recommend some things we can do as a class: that would be great!

The service could be for my school, county, state (MD), or the U.S.

I already thought of...

1) Collecting Food for a Food drive or starting one up

2) Sending letters, entertainment (books, magazines, ect.) and maybe other stuff to soldiers.

3) Money raising fundraiser for something?

Yea there are better ideas, help please?

Sending stuff to soldiers, maybe I just have a soft spot for our service men and women but I think supporting and thanking them in any way possible is extremly improtant.

Lotus, lol.

Money Fundraiser for school you could get like an award for something and like he said supporting our soldiers in teh armed forces is important.

Dood best way to help your community, in my opinion, is to find a homeless shelter and volunteer your time.... help people in your area, that have little to nothing... and if you do it, be nice and talk to some people there ( the homeless ), you will learn a lot of things as well... Not all homeless people are junkies or what not, and even if they are, be nice and couteous, because you might make such a difference to them, that it one day will help them turn their lives around....

I volunteered for 2 years at a homeless shelter, and it was well worth it....

if its community service hours, you can volunteer at day cares or elderly group care homes

Serve lunch at a soup kitchen.

Adopt a Highway.

Homeless shelter. (As Stickyfinger already recommended.) There are so many things you could do for the homeless. Take the kids to the park; raid your attic, closets for toys.

Build park benches for your local Park and Rec Department.

Thats all I have for now.

okay let me tell u what i do...
i play basketball during middle school, and i was the captain of the team. There during 9th grade i would go back to middle school and help out. I would go every Wednesday for like 2yours and he would give me 8hours of CSH (Community Service Hours).

Now im in 10th grade. im going to apply a job at the park to teach little kids to play basketball for winter and Spring im going to help out track and Field. Here is what they offer me: The first 50hours i work i would only get $6.50 per hour to see how well i work then i will get $9.50 per hour. I would them the 1st 50hour would be my community service hours so yeah good way to get he house done.

Well i see alot of my friend just go back to their old teachers like in the 7th or 8th grade and help them out then get service house... this take kinda long cuz they would only give u like 3hours a day but its pretty fun with you go with your friends

Recycling, my school has these huge recycling bins in my school. So as a class we put in what days and hrs we are available to go and pull these huge recycling bins out of the school and into the area where the garbage trucks come and pick them up. We then put them back to there original place, very simple and the whole class can sign up. Do it in teams if you have these recycling bins.
