I have some interest in L4D...now that it's at a decent price I'm considering picking it up....or should I just wait for the sequel? Will there be plenty of people playing the original when L4D2 comes out?

If you got the money, get both. If I didn't have L4D1, and the release of L4D2 is nigh, I'd get the second one.

I'd wait until 2. It already includes the gameplay modes from 1 so the only thing you would be missing out on are the character's personalities.

I hate personalities. I hate Zombies. I hate trains.I hate subways. I hate elevators.

You know what I don't hate? I don't hate vests.

I'd suggest waiting unless L4D is super appealing and you don't think you can wait

You might as well get the second one......

The second one is going to have everything L4D1 had + more.

Guys L4D is not finished.. granted everyone started getting bored with the same 4 campaigns however since they opened it up and users are creating their own maps.. there are some brilliant custom maps out there

Granted you have to download them and install them.. but its worth the effort. The vpk files are really easy.. you just double click on it and it installs it to the right directory.. you dont have to do anything but download & double click !

There are 3 good sites for these at the moment

L4Dmaps.com
L4Dmods.com
L4Dmapdb.com this one is pretty interesting cos it has 3 pages of campaigns that are either partly released or works in progress

I can recommend.. escape from toronto, death aboard, heaven can wait (if you want a real challenge) Silent hill.. a big download for an exceptional map.. its not quite finished yet and it takes a long time to play but so totally worth it.. also 7 days later

Some of these maps are already in final version and totally worth a look.

However, each of these sites have lots of maps for survival, versus and campaigns... I would recommend Helm`s deep and Buildead for Survival maps

It really opened up L4D and gave it a renewed interest for me !

If you are interested, but can wait, I would hold off until L4D2 comes out, they may run a promotion where you can get both games cheaper together as a package or something of that sort.

L4D is the worst piece of garbage VALVe ever released. It had potential, but they gave us 1/4th of a game, and left it at that.

I forgot all about the new level that they are releasing, I might have to start playing L4D again.

I would get the original first, since its cheaper, will have more content, albeit not the same weapons but LOTS of FREE new levels if you go to l4dmaps.com, some good some , well eh, but you will definitely get your moneys worth and be able to decide if its even the type of game you like or not

I would definitely get L4D 2, The first one was indeed a very instant hit, very adreneline-packed, actually using teamwork (if playing with friends) and just messing around Just4Fun

L4D is good in many peoples' opinions, plus, you aren't giving any reasoning to convince people to see your opinion.
edit: gah double post sorry.
