I'm looking to gut my current system, not all of it, and achieve a faster computer.

I use CS4, Gaming Construction Sets, 3D Max, Nifskope and all of that.

I'll upload my specs when I get home, but I was just wondering if anyone had an "ultimate computer" in mind.

Budget isn't a problem.
Thanks

well what is your current computer specs? that way if you want it faster, we can determine what would be faster

i7 920 with a decent x58 motherboard. It doesn't have to anything exorbitant like the classified. 12gb of Corsair ddr3 and a decent hard drive. I'd consider the new Radeon HD 5870. It's supposed to beastly and only cost 399.

I7 920, gtx 260/275/285, with a x58 mobo,

3 gigs of OCZ GOLD.

Are you kidding? He wants AT LEAST 6GB for the programs he wants to run. Preferably 8 or more GB's to be honest. He'd be better off getting 3x2GB sticks, so there is still room for another 6GB's.

maybe more like 12GB?

maybe more like 12GB?

Thats where the 8 or more part comes in. If he gets LGA1366 he wants to get 12GB's, if he gets LGA1156 he should get 8GB's.

6GB's Would be bare minimum for those apps to run effectively, so that is why I said at least in caps.

I had to cut corners because newegg was sold out of stuff. Couldn't get any 4890x2 2GB and could only buy one 24 GB RDIMM kit. So it's hobbled by only having 48 GB of RAM (Instead of 96GB) and two vanilla 2GB 4890s. You could get that from other places though and would bring the price to a mere $11,523. I forgot the PSU too, so you would need to throw that in the mix, but you get the idea.
