I have my laptop connected to my HDTV and it worked fine until my dad did something, and no the HDTV is always flickering and cant get a real picture.
i dont know what to do, i already tried troubleshooting but didnt work, tried rolling back my driver didnt work, and tried changing my display settings didnt work, so any suggestions?

is the cable or connectors damaged at all? i would suggest trying another device on your tv to rule that out but if your sure thats not the issue i would make sure you have the latest driver instead of rolling it back.

punch your dad in the face

nah j/k...but do you know what he did? or does he? can narrow it down pretty well just by finding that out

Check your screen resolution and refresh rates. If the laptop is connected using a vga cable, and the resolution is 1920x1080, you will probably always have some flicker, although you might be able to adjust the refresh rate to compensate.

If the refresh rate is 60hz, try changing it to something else, that can solve lots of problems with flicker.

If fiddling with the refresh rate doesn't fix the problem, you can try lowering the resolution. Depending on how your tv is set up, it might put it in a letterbox, but you can probably change a setting to have it stretch the image to fill up the whole screen.

We tried to change the refresh rate, but it wouldnt let us do anything
and my dad doesnt know, except that he said that when it worked he plugged the cable in and then he turned on the computer, but now he turned on the computer then plugged in the cable, but i dont think that really does anything
the cable is an svideo cable by the way

under display settings in your control panel make sure you have the second display activated.
