Source Games Freezing Up.

Hai eGO.
Quite recently I have been having a problem with playing Source games.

Whenever I first join a server and this is for ANY Source game I play.
I'm very laggish AND I freeze, often timing out.
Afterwards I reconnect.
Then, at random times and constently I will be running and I suddenly freeze in place.
Yet I hear everyone talking, reloading and moving I am frozen were I stand.. Often dying since I'm left defenceless.
I play CS 1.6, CSS, TF2 and DoDs which it does this for all of my games.
Its annoying because not only in game do I freeze, I lose connection in vent and any other program yet remain inside the server.

I'm on my brothers PC, which the specs are.

Yes thats a Dxdaig thing.


Anyway, I'm SURE the PC is good enough.
The PC uses a Belkin 802.11g - 54 Mbps Wireless link that is always quite hot to the touch.

I'm not sure what the problem is but its annoying to be playing good then get owned when I suddenly lock up or if in an event and get kicked due to lagg.

Try defragging the files in the sources games, right click them on steam, and go to properties, you will find it from there.

Also try clearing the caches, browse to the game folders, find there cache, and delete everything inside.

connection problems, especially since you lose connection on other internet applications like vent
it gets tricky to narrow things down from a loose/bad cord to whatever else when you have so many things in play like wireless routers/modems/providers/etc. but at first try just power cycling everything. turn everything off, computer included for 3-5 minutes and let it reset. turning off as in, remove the power source...so unplug all components
you can then test if its your router by bypassing it and just linking your modem to your computer to see if you have the same problem blah blah blah so on and so forth

It might be your connection. Try and play in a manual non wireless link by plugging in a Ethernet cable directly into your laptop.

@ Seatean: Not a loptop, its a desktop - And the routers downstairs, fraid' thats not an option.
