Help Please.

I run TF2 and it opens up in a small window, the valve logo(man with valve in head) appears and 'duuuuuuu' sound happens, then the source powered logo comes on, fades and then the window disappears.

I recently removed tf2 because I was downgrading from win7 to win vista ultimate.

I haven't heard of a problem like that before. It might be related to the fact that you're using Vista though, assuming you never had a problem like this on Windows 7?

I can personally state TF2 runs in Vista just fine. Sounds like a runtime error. Try reinstalling.

Try running it with the launch option: -novid

A friend of mine had this exact problem, easily solved if it's the same thing.
(can't remember if he had the sound issue or not though)

Right click 'Team Fortress 2' in Steam.
Under the 'General' tab, there should be a box with 'Set launch options...'
Click this and in the box that appears type in -full

It would probably be worthwhile doing what woodstock said and type both in, so it will look like -full -novid

Launch TF2 in steam and hey-presto, if should run just fine.
