Having some issues with new video card

This is my first experience with replacing or installing a new video card.

I ordered a new Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 and it came in yesterday. My other video card that was already in my computer was a Nvidia 6800 GS. I read some things online and I read that I needed to uninstall my old drivers for my video card (6800) so I went ahead and did that. Turned off my computer, put the new video card (4850) in. The video card is freaking huge by the way. Anyways, I turned my computer on and installed the new drivers for the new video card and everything went fine. I tweaked with the settings because the screen was flickering horribly so I changed the refresh rate then I tried to get on the internet and I couldn't get on. I was like okay maybe I unplugged something in my computer when I was installing this massive beast. So I doubled checked everything and messed around with it some more and nothing. I got so frustrated I decided to go to sleep and mess with it today.

Today, I have been messing with it and still nothing. I know it's not my modem because the internet works fine when I plug it into my laptop. I uninstalled the new drivers and put my other video card (6800) back in and installed those drivers and still no internet. Finally, I just restored it back to Thursday and now everything is okay and I know it is either the drivers or something else. I have no clue though. Am I doing something wrong?? Please help me eGO!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Man, I need to read more thoroughly. What I had posted is below. Now for your current issue:

Is you NIC on the motherboard, or a separate card? When a cable is plugged in, do the lights on the port come on? Can you ping a local computer or device to see if it's your computer or the modem?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright,

Is the 6 or 8 pin auxiliary 12 volt cable plugged into the video card?
Are you able to run a utility for us that tells the temp of the GPU?

Secondly, use this program. Uninstall the drivers completely, reboot BUT BOOT INTO SAFEMODE. Repeat the process using the program, again. Reboot into Windows as normal, then load the drivers. Since you've already installed the new drivers, use the program to locate and uninstall the old remaining drivers, then do the same for the new drivers.

Does the 4850 run fine when its installed, just not the internet? if so:

are you sure you didnt tweak the NIC (network interface card [little thing you plug ethernet into]) when you put in the 4850?

I believe the nic is part of the motherboard. and if you are talking about the Ethernet cable light turning on then yes it does come on as it is connected. like i said in the original post, I can hook up my modem to my laptop and it works fine so strongly believe it is something in the drivers or the card itself.

Yeah everything works fine with the card, just the damn internet. I thought maybe i hit something or unplugged something from the motherboard but I double checked and triple checked and Everything was fine. And there was also no option that I saw in the drivers for the internet. (which I doubt there would be) just saying

Ah, okay. Can you try accessing the laptop through the network from the PC, or vise versa?

I have seen the onboard NICs just 'go'. Poof.

The NIC should show up under your device manager. Driver details should be in there as well.

What motherboard do you have?

that would be it...

on a second note...

if you have your NIC drivers on hand you might want to try deinstalling / reinstalling your NIC in device manager.

even if it appears in the device manager, it doesnt mean its working properly

Well I gave it another try and I did something right while installing the drivers. Now everything works fine and I can actually get on the internet and see what kind of frames I am getting.

I'm getting 100+ frames on dust 2 where as before I was getting maybe 50 at most. now I'm about to try tf2 which was really bad before. I was only getting 10 frames. lol

I have another problem. NO SOUND!! :(

Lol, good job man! That's what I was getting at; re: Your MSI 7125 uses an Nvidia chipset, you may have accidentally deleted that too, when deleting the drivers for your old GPU.

As far as the sound, here's MSI's download for (what I believe to be) your motherboard. PCB 3.0, PCB 1.0. If neither of those look like it, go here and on the right use the drop down menu to navigate to the correct one. Personally I don't trust the live update.
