Borderlands OMG

I'm hoping for a midnight release sunday night, but judging from other releases and free weekend type things it will be sometime around 8-10 am Monday.

:facewall: nooo! I would definitely stay up to play the minute it comes out sun nite/mon morning but why mid-day steam? gotta get ur beauty rest first?

So I hate to double post, but I figured this was the best thread to post it without making a whole new discussion.

Today is my birthday, and I asked for a specific Borderlands related gift. On Monday the game releases and I really wanna play the game. I don't usually have the opportunity to play games much during the day due to my family needing me for "emergencies" like "I can't reach that gardening tool" and I really can't start anything or play any games other than games I can pause every 20 or 30 minutes until around 10 PM. So in light of this, I asked that I not be bothered for one full day on Monday so I can actually sit down and enjoy Borderlands without constantly having to stop and make whomever I play with wait for me.

So this brings me to the main point of the post. Who wants to play Monday? I'll be playing Lilith specced elemental damage. A medic or tank would be ideal. Just PM me if you want to join me. I'll be starting as soon as the game is out, and if the game releases at Midnight I'll be on then until probably around 4am CST.

Oh, and just a funny story from today, my birthday... My mom decided to make grilled chicken and an apple pie among other things today for a dinner. I've been to the grocery store twice, and had to go exchange the propane tank because the valve wouldn't turn and came off the threads to turn it on. As well as mow the lawn and clean out the gutters. Fun fun. At least I got a pair of socks.

I'm pretty sure I have Monday off from work, so I'll be up instantly to play this game. Who needs sleep after your night shift ends at 3 am PST? I'll tell you! No onE! No ONe!!!! AHhhhhhhHH!!!

*you can faintly hear his mind snapping from the waiting*

I would REALLY like to play this game. I was going to get it for the console but both the xbox and ps3 copies are completely sold out in my local retailers. I am hesitant to buy it on computer because of my system specs:

graphics: nvidia geforce 8600 gt
processor: intel 2.2 ghz
ram: 3gb

Do you guys think I'll be able to run the game without having to lower the graphics settings to the bare minimum and still have some lag or anything like that?

You'll be fine dude, lol. Thats more than enough. Its mins require only a single core proccesor (assuming you have a dual). This isn't crysis, you should be able to play it fine. It's not a graphically heavy game. Consoles can run it and they have way worse hardware than what you have.

Next time just look up the requirements on steam.

Ok, well in that case I'm preordering it on steam then! I don't know what I'll be in terms of classes or whatever. I'll just go with whatever I feel when I play. I'll try the coop with a few of you aswell if you want.

As I don't get the game unlocked till friday, can someone please inform me after playing just how useful melee and PW/PS can be with lilith? I'm almost loosing sleep on how to roll her... XD. I'm assuming it's not great, so this is what I have:

Well Lilith seems to have 2 really effective builds. Phoenix or Phase. You kinda picked some good talents, and didn't get some of the ones you need to compliment others you picked. It appears your focusing on Phasewalk and damage from weapons, which may work, but from the phase players I've talked with they prefer melee (seems dumb to me) when they go with a phase build. I would say something like this is more your style. The focus is on keeping phasewalk active by having a really fast cooldown and using it a lot. And upon PW being on cooldown you'll be super powerful and be able to initiate it again, as well as regain any health lost. This is almost cookie-cutter for her, but modded to be more of a guns focused build. You may want to sacrifice a few points here and there for more bullet damage, but honestly the real focus here is keeping the PW cooldown to a minimum so you can reap it's benefits constantly without having a period of being a big easy target. Also, this build is somewhat dependent on having a good shield with high regen/capacity (which aren't hard to find at all) because your talents aren't really helping with shielding, but rather actual HP.

Also, with builds like this, high fire rate SMG's and heavy damage shotguns are a must. This build is for getting in and blowing everything away, not hang back and fire. Thats for elemental to do. So this playstyle has to be played correctly, otherwise your not going to have a good time. It also has pretty high risk for getting ganked by a ninja badass (thats an actual character type in the game) who sneaks up behind you and blasts you, which does happen sometimes.

Thanks, Ace, I like the prospect of using an assortment of elemental (+ an anarchy from what I hear) SMGs - don't really like mel?e, and also PW seems pretty good so I'll capitalise on that bearing in mind i'll be co-oping, so this is what i've gone for.

I love it so far, I got it on thursday and its really fun. I'm A Level 20 solider support/medic. :D

As far as Lilith builds go...I'm going for an all or nothing approach with the phasewalking

like so

Basically running up, melee-ing then hopefully killing if not fleeing

Yeah PS is quite appealing, however you can only do it once every 10 seconds (assuming you get the kill). Just how lethal it is we don't know, but I will say that you have no health regen skills at all, and if having Striking and Dramatic Entrance, do you need mind games as well? perhaps it would be better spent on inner glow, as you will be doing a lot of PW to get the PS.
I'd swap striking with inner glow if i were u.

Get out of my mind! i was going to say that!..well not that exactly but something around there ;)

So I was just looking at the Steam store page for Borderlands... It says the game will unlock in 18 hours. Thats late afternoon tomorrow... Why would the game come out so late in the day? Does anyone know how accurate that might be from pre-loading other games?
