Is a 360 worth getting now?

The amount of fanboy-ism in this thread is unrivaled.

Seriously though, in all impartiality, it's up to you.

If I remember correctly, there are more 360 players compared to PS3. However, the Playstation has that nice feature of having free online...

I personally got the 360, all my friends have it. However, if both systems had an equal amount of friends playing, I probably would've gone with the Playstation. It's mostly just personal preference.

If you think you'll be playing your 360 once a week at least, get it. The 360 is a very good system w/ or w/o XBL. It has the multilayer capability that PCs lack for house parties/friends hanging out. With the elite version @ $300 it is worth it.

get a 360 if you:
  • like things that break frequently
  • like waiting for packages
  • like replacements that break just as frequently as the original
  • like games that are on most other consoles
  • like exclusive titles that arent good.
  • like paying monthly fees for your online

lol!

And by no means am i fanboy.
Heres my story and why i give such a biased opinion.

The TL,DR(to long didnt read) version is at the bottom in bold.

I started with a WII, it was different, it was going to have brawl and i wanted to try it.
Terrible console, no real content or playablility, its for people with little free time, and short attention spans. (im the opposite)
So i sold it.

So i looked into the 360
Back when xbox came out, it converted me from playstation and i LOVED IT.
So i got a 360, partly because i had loyalty and assumed it was sweet, also for halo and fable since they were exclusive.
Halo got boring, its halo2 but with more rankings and people being total jerks.
Fable2 was complete utter garbage, no....just...no.

Next was the PS3, which i had my eye on for a few reasons.
MGS4 - MGS is in my top 3 favorite game series, i love it.
LBP - This was a new thing, and an exclusive to boot. It was a completely new inovation on games and i had been following its progress for a year or so, the thought of playing it was too much.

I anntied up for the high price tag of the PS3.
I still have it, i still play it, and i still love it.

Granted the PSN is not as polished/refined as xboxlive. I admit it, somtimes its garbage.
But it works, its free, and only gives you trouble once in a while.

On a sidenote, my brother has gone through 5 360's, my friend rick has burned through 4, and 2 classmates have gone through 4 & 6.

The shelf life of 360's is terrible, the things have a fatal flaw and break constantly.
They send you a replacement that breaks just as easily.
Im sorry but i dont buy crap that breaks that often.

I'll end on this:
Im not a fanboy trying to sway you to one side or another.
Im simply trying to look out for someone else's intrests and prevent them from buying something thier potentially going to and most likely will, regret.

Actually, paying 50$ a year for online play is cheaper than Playing World of Warcraft with 15$ / month

That what you get when you buy a console right at the release date.
/facepalm
and FYI : The 360 and The PS3 are the same for the graphics.
You like shooters or arcade games? Go get a 360.
You like race games, fight games or something else? Go get a PS3.
Make your own opinion.

Well for the fact that PS3 it takes quite long to connect to another player, while the xbox 360 i heard it was faster than the ps3.

Please keep the console war crap out of this thread, and only post if you have RELEVANT INFORMATION, I.E., first hand experience. If you say something sucks, explain WHY it sucks, if you think something's great, explain WHY it's great. Nothing I hate more than people who don't back their opinions up.

IMO get the PS3 like people have said the PS3 boasts blu ray chargeable controllers bluetooth free built in wifi free online gaming and ever growing stronger video game library. Also if you are a big Final Fantasy fan go with the PS3. The 360 may be getting FF13 but PS3 gets FFVersus13 exclusive to it where its set in the same universe but different story/characters/combat system and its supposedly going to be the most tragic and darkest FF game to date.

The cons to the xbox to me are the fact you have to buy a wifi addon for 99 bucks and pay the fee to play their games online. Not only that but the fact that most games come on the PC as well making them not true exclusives and also the obvious failure rate of the consoles which still has not been addressed conclusively it seems. Sure they support it now but it still fails half the time and you have to send in and not have your 360 for a few weeks. A reliable more powerful more energy efficient slim PS3 is the best bang for your buck now.

ps3 online community in my experience is filled with more mature people. whenever i play on xbox live i get alot 12 yr olds (or very immature adults) who curse me off when they lose at something. PS3 ive never had any online problems.

I agree with this.

But, Your decsion is up to what games you want. Personally, I'd stick with PC. Most games on the PS3, and 360, are on PC.

I dont really know of any PS3 exclusive games that are on the PC unlike the 360

I've already got the PS3, so I guess what I need to know is if the 360's exclusives alone make it worth the purchase?
