Here is my problem when i join TF2 servers (Like cp_BlackMesa) My ping is around 100 or higher which cause me some lag, but it is still playable. When I join other servers like Dustboll my ping will go up to around 200-400, which makes the game unplayable. I am not running any other programs in the background. Also when I exit the game My connection on the internet and in Vent are fine. I really need some help with this, please comment.

Hmmm, I'd think it might be something to do with the map. Try putting your Texture details on medium or low, then test it. That's all I have atm, im tired.

Does anyone know what could be causing this, I lowered the texture settings and nothing worked, I also tried on all low setting and nothing changed.

if you can, get as close to your router as you can if you are using wireless, just to see if you are at a bad angle or too far away from it. Also, make sure you do not have any wireless devices that operate at the same frequency (i.e. cordless phones, etc). Also, make sure you have your router password protected incase someone is stealing badwidth from you.

If your issue occurs randomly then it is most likely either your ISP having problems or you have spyware or viruses.

Here are some great programs to clean up addware

-superantispyware
-spybot S&D
-windows defender

I use ESET NOD32, but you have to pay for it.

Other than that you could have a failing router, or a failing nic card (or mobo if it is built in). You have to try to narrow down whats causing the issue.

good luck

It is also possible that you have a port blocked or partially blocked, slowing down your connection to anything related to steam. You might fix the problem my disabling any firewalls you have, including the build in firewall for your router.

I have the same problem on the Verizon servers. Best ping I can get is 120. Usually 150 - 170. Best advice I have found is make sure nothing else is connecting to the net. Keep graphics low and go from there.

I think i might of fixed the problem. I re installed the driver for the ethernet port and it seema to of worked i played on turbine for about an hour without any lag and a ping between 30-50.

If it worked for an hour, I think you'll be in good shape. Usually problems that are existant will show up within an hour.
