What types of ... do you read?

I was wondering,what typed of ... do you read for entertainment :
Books,mags,novels,dictonary,comics,ect,ect.
I love reading book,mags,and mangas

double post but whatever. I feel like adults do not understand the fact that times are changing, and that books are becomiong obsoleet. The internet is the new way for people to get there information and news.

Now I know that it is a shame that the newspaper companies are shutting down, But thats life.!We move on, we advance in technologies. Unfortinutly parents say That we should read books. and I do like to read books. I enjoy them very much.

But once again, Its time That schools start to except the fact that the internet is the new source of research, and should stop continuing to force students to get book sources for there projects. its 2009. were in the futer baby!

I am almost done with "Castles of Steel" a history of World War I naval combat. It focuses very heavily on the policy/strategy of both the German and Anglo/French sides.

Before this one I read a Biography of Ben Franklin and before that I read "Team of Rivals", which is about Lincoln and his cabinet. The book on Franklin suprised me in that I did not know that Ben Franklin was far and away one of the richest colonist of his time. I came away from "Team of Rivals" with a deep, profound respect for President Lincoln. Now I understand why so many historians consider him the greatest President, though I still think Washington gets the nod for doing it first and setting the bar for others that followed him.

I think after this run of history books I'm going to lighten up a tad and read a novel. I'm just not sure which one. The last novel I read was Salvatore's 'Twin Blades Trilogy' which I thought was pretty bad.

I also have subscriptions to Astronomy Magazine and AOPA's Pilot mag (I'm a pilot).

I'm an adult and I agree with you.

I graduated college in 2002. At that time there were no textbooks available via electronic media, that I was aware of. Are you certain that the Universities are at fault, i.e. forcing you to buy books, or are there little to no textbooks available in electronic format?

Also that thesis is kind of flawed. The concept of the death of printed media has existed pretty much for over a decade and has only partially come to pass. While it is inevitable that the book will eventually die out, there has not yet been a medium to replace it. The closest thing that we have is the Kindle, which is both comically over priced and really cumbersome.

Oh, and to compare the downfall of the Newspapers with any publishing houses (which are far from dead) is not quite right. It would be a better comparison between the Record labels and the Newspapers.

That and books pretty much equal Novels.

i read mostly science fiction/fantasy stuff.. me and my bro had a library easily worth about 8k in books that we put together over the course of about 3 years... that was a lot of reading but yeah.. big book cases.

I agree . I really fear that the newspaper production wll be terminated soon and I fear the lose of thousands of jobs all around. Its a little scary if you think of it. AMC for an example. They now refuse to put there movie times in the newspaper for there screenings. now this will encorage older adults to buy a computer and try to find a new source of information.

Now when my folks found out about it they were very sad and made a 20 min argument on why it was very stupid to put these on the paper.. Its simple money!. If you want a article in the newpaper you must pay, I beieve you are taxed on it. on the internet there is no pay. and is a much faster way of checking the weather /news or whatever. another point tyu can make about web news is that is saves trees. but in the long run i feer that the newspaper companies failing will be very bad for U.S and there countries economies.

Well with the advent of the internet and the concept of information that is both fast and cheap; it was inevitable for newspapers to fail. The impact that this would have on the economy would be minimal at the most. Those who would be hurt the most are those involved with the distribution of the papers. The writers would simply move online as there is still a need for local news. Though I'm certain that a few papers will still remain for many years to come as the industry consolidates.

The impact on the environment would also be minimal as a large portion of newspapers are printed on recycled paper.
