Based on my system specs as well, should I change anything? I don't know much about some of those settings lol. Here are my specs. I'm always looking to improve how well TF2 runs. Thanks!

AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 6000+
Asus M2n SLI Deluxe mother board
3.01GHz, 4GB of RAM
Western Digital SATA Hard Drive 500 GB, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM
Nvidia GeForce 9800GT 1GB
Acer 19 inch LCD monitor (75 hertz refresh rate)
Screen size of 1152x864 (for the game as well as desktop)

I have that same graphic card, but the 512mb version, and I can run TF2 on maxed settings no problem at 1024x768.

To what numbers? lol

I don't know what antialiasing, anisotropic and vertical sync should be set to

I got the same exact settings, except that I have the texture quality beyond "Very High", and it doesn't even lag at all.

Jack up the settings man...

Don't think he will be able to get a playable FPS if he REALLY maxes it out..

Me as well, if you get something to show your FPS then change the setting and play then you will know what to set it as, like the norm is about 60 but anything lower and you should turn it down. The free version on FRAPS shows your FPS and you can take screenshots and short video, Download it here- http://www.fraps.com/download.php

PS my FPS is always 60 but when I get my new videocard this x-mas (ATI Radeon™ HD 4890) I hope to see better

Mine is max, with 4xAA and 16xAF. 60-200 fps depending on the situation. A full Toyfort server can get it down to 30 in some battles. I have a 250gts. Not much more then yours.

If your performance is at or above what you expect, I would say leave it as is. If you start having low fps or lag while still having a good ping, start by lowering the anti-aliasing setting. Anti-aliasing either takes up more of the cpu or the graphics card's time, depending on the program, and can cause lag at higher settings. Plus, TF2 is cartooney enough that having more angular objects doesn't matter.

there is no need for fraps just to see your fps

in console

cl_showfps 1

and to turn it off

cl_showfps 0

this method is more accurate than fraps

Dont put anti-aliasing you will need the extra FPS during rough intensive places, what i do with each game is put everything to maxs and remove AA and i get a solid 60-120FPS

ya but aa is still nice to have and that card can handle the game maxed out with A-A at 6x or 8x easily with fps to spare

but really just test thing out run the "cl_showfps 1" command so you can see your fps and see what setting give you the best look/fps

Net_graph 1 also shows FPS and some other useful info.
