I just learnd of this console command "r_3dsky 0" And I was wondering if its ok to use on the servers because I heard that some commands are considered cheating.
I hope its ok to use because I get a extra 15-25 fps off it.

The only thing I see it do is take out all of the little things way in the background of the map. Like on Cs:s Office it takes out all of the buildings in the background and just leaves a blue sky.

I got an answer from elsewhere. This can be locked.

I've just been looking like crazy to find some ways to get higher fps.

you should post the answer, in case others would like to know as well

Well removing all the skyboxes (removes sky, plus any buildings which may have been placed in the background) is similar to decreasing the quality of your graphics. There isn't any optimizations you can do besides decreasing quality or improving the hardware in your machine.

To improve my fps i use my imagination!!! Until i can afford to buy a new computer.

Lol, Sorry I took so long I forgot about this post. :/ It not Cheating.

Edit: For some reason it doesnt save the command. I dont know if its just me but I have to put it in everytime I start up css

Edit2:
I can also post a few more of the commands that I have been using If you guys want.

Just curious, whats your average fps with all these fancy commands.
Because if your at the point where you searching for anyway to get even the slightest increase, that probably means you've been LOW.

Id just like to know how low you were, and where you are now.

I had a average of 25 before and now I hit 60 on some maps like highschool and some ZM maps. But most of the other maps I get around 40-50. And this isnt just me looking at the ground when I get this fps, this is while I play.

Edit: Ya I just did a stress test and it was 46.46. Id say thats better than my old average of 25.

Also I used to not like playing on office because I hit 15fps in some spots. I dont know why tho cuz its a small map. But now I dont have that problem.

Wow, thats a pretty big increase.
Also office, although small, has alot of objects with physics and stuff to deal with.

Look at dust2, its the map, and a few barrels.
Office on the other hand has chairs, cups, radios, computers, projecters, boxes and boxes and boxes, filing cabinets. Just tons of stuff. The game has to deal with all that junk, which causes some drops in fps.

(to prove a point, go to t spawn, and throw a nade into the 2 computers, and watch as your game comes to a halt for about 2 seconds lol)

About those other commands I use, Heres the ones that help me the most.
r_3dsky 0
r_shadows 0
mat_dxlevel 80 -About this command... I dont know exactly what it does but it will freeze up your screen for a few seconds and it will reset your Graphics settings under options/video/advanced. And if your like me and want to get the most fps as possible you should turn them all on low.

first one takes out the maps skybox, a skybox is what allows there to be a background ex. the buildings in the distance on office.
In reality its like a small map way up in the sky, that projects its images down onto the map the players are on.
For the best idea of this, go into free spec mode, and fly way up high on office. You'll find it.

Second one takes out shadows. Nuff said.

Third one is setting your directX level to 8.0
Its an older version of directX and therefore less tasking on your computer.

Its also used as a fix if you cant get CSS to run.

you can put them in your autoexec file so they run every time the game starts.

Ninja is correct.

You can open up your autoexec.cfg file located in your cstrike/cfg folder (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YourAccountName\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg) and just add the lines you want to load into console when you start the game. So in your case your autoexec.cfg might look something like this:

setinfo "ego_maul_pin" "XXXXXXXXXXXX" (You'll only have this line if you have admin)
r_3dsky 0
r_shadows 0
mat_dxlevel 80
