HACKS...How to spot em?

Hi guys,
Could u guys help us out by telling us how to find out if a player is a hacker or not. cos as an =(e)= we have little or no clue at all about hacks.
So help us in spottin hacks too..
A few tips on how to find hacks,cos hacks nowdays r gettin better i heard..
so start posting...

hey cobain.. first of all u should spectate the guy that u think is hacking.. if he getts no recoil or if his aim moves to ppls heads very fast or if he aims in to a wall that u know that he can't shoot through but manage to shoot through it anyway then he is hacking.. another thing u should do is that u should make a demo (recording) of him while u r in spectators and mail it to demo@edgegamers .us

To start a demo type in the console;
record "filename" (without qoutes) example: record Artimus

To stop the demo

stopdemo

Demo's (.dem files) are stored in your DOD folder.

But never spec anyone for possible hacking unless HE/SHE IS REALLY HURTING THE GAME! And, if an advisor or up is online, call for them to deal with the hacker, rather than you stop playing and spec.

Step 1 - Remain calm and keep silent about your suspicions except to admns - otherwise the user will merely turn off their hacks and prevent any possible proof
Step 2 - Spectate the suspected player
Step 3 - Assume you are wrong
Step 4 - Record a demo
Step 5 - If the player continues to behave suspiciously (moves/attacks are outside the realm of reason) - stop recording the demo and submit a ban request along with a demo

99% of the time - the user is not hacking.

General rule of thumb if you are new to spotting hackers, just dont worry about them unless their sights are consistantly snapping to the head or chest at abnormal speeds. Speccing a guy because he got 2 straight headshots on you usually just isnt worth it. You're just wasting your time. The chances of him actually hacking are slim to none.
But when a guy starts out on strand as an allied rifleman, and within the first two seconds of his spawn he gets 5 straight headshots through the fog, there's good reason for doubting him. So unless he's doing something like that, I'd advise you to just leave hacking accusations alone.

There's a lot of other signs that I've come across when watching suspected hackers, but they wouldnt be any good to you, unless you've been playing for awhile.

ok cos we were at donner and this one guy had a score 289-52 sniping.everyone was accusing him of hacks ..i looked for an admin but no one was present. so speced him for a while..he kept flinching rapidly which was very funny..he was basically assaultin wit the sniper he was the best i had seen.he dodged the mg for lik 6 sec n then shot him too.. at this time there were 6 guys specing him so i stopped specing and asked em to continue but they wouldn...but he was one hell of a sniper... really good..

Call for an advisor or up, if none on, then Spec if really necessary.

the best way to notice are impossible shots with with a tompson across the map to the head again and again or another is wall shotsthat go through the thick walls in the map again and again,
1. stop be clam and don't accuss anyone of hacking
2. forget about it unless its always happening to you
3. start a demo by typing in console" record(name)" (eg.Artimus)
4. pm or message in xfire or whatever,an an advisor or council member or if non availible and eGO

Err, shooting someone across the map in the head with a thompson means absolutely nothing. Using an aimbot with a thompson is about as worthless as they come.

It's all in the movement. Good players move a certain way around the map. Hackers usually don't understand the game so they move around in silly ways, or sit in the open with their ironsights up.

exactly, if you first suspect someone is hacking. first check their k:d ratio.

let something like this...let it go

but if its like this. check them out

4:1
and so on

It's not about the kdr, even 1:1 or less can be a hacker, just a bad one, basically, if it was 4:1, most of us would be hackers. Points at Hugo, Gary, Dye, Kamphy, (sometimes me)Fry, etc.

There are quite a few k98 users that are insanely good with their shots. Some of these players just memorize all the spots were campers/snipers/mgs go to and always shoot in those areas. It may seem like a hack but if you play AVA, for example, and hear an allied mg near Axis 2nd flag, you can assume an Axis sniper or rocket will instantly aim at the V-crack...The Axis sniper/rocket player isn't hacking, they just know how to play the map and can predict where the enemy is. Long story short, the suspected hackers are probably just really good and have played too much DOD

i agree with peregrin on the AVA thing.. one guy was owning me.. but as coma can tell you this guy just really really knew the map down solid. and he was a sure shot.

however, the original post was about spotting hacks (so yes, go get admin if it does hurt game), but to clue you in..

aim bots are designed to aim to head (or cheast) automatically. If you see people strafe past walls slowly already aiming chances are they are good and know where u are, but if a guy runs into the open, goes to iron sight, and picks off 3-5 people with headshots right away... grab admin.

also, if you see anyone who's body looks like it is in a spin cycle they are hacking. it is a trick that keeps the model constantly moving so bullets literally go right thru. also.. if they run like the road runner.. meep meep.

honestly though.. as many have pointed out.. a guy with a sick sick sick K with the kar or springfield does not have to be hacking. Hugo owns face on AVA with springfield, his KD is 7.something, and again.. 99% of time.. they aren't hacking.

And, when you see at the end of a round on ava, most kills: NAME 38 kills/38 hs Hits: 38

It might be a hacker if he keeps moving around on the open, but it might be just a camper, camping the same spot and having a good aim.

Again, player movement comes into play. Sometimes I can tell a hacker right off the bat if he's dumb as a rock with a K/D of above 4 or something. Like Tooth said, good players move a certain way. A bad player who's hacking just doesnt move right.

Leave the Hacker spotting up to Advisors and ONLY advisors. Unless they are clearing the gamescreen with kills, don't worry about it.

You are NOT supposed to be looking for hackers, so don't try to. If you think someone is hacking, keep it to yourself and see if it starts getting bad.

The rule of thumb for this kind of thing is only take course if it is interupting OTHER players gameplay. You, as an admin, are not supposed to be making decisions like that if you are emotionally involved.

IE: They kill only you 50 times all headshots so you spectate them because you think they're hacking.

Ask other admins if the player is getting the same shots on them, but never say "Oh I think that guy is hacking" especially around the younger admins.

The big point is:
Don't spectate unless you have admin approval.
The only time you should be spectating a hacker is if it's disrupting the gameplay as a whole.
