What headset should i buy?

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-High-Grade-Full-Size-Headphone/dp/B0013OWPV4"]JVC HA-RX700[/ame] and get it with the Zalman mic listed on the same page. Then, like the other threads, watch people quote me and tack on a "+1," while going off to buy something that has "1337" painted on the side.

idk, people are saying that they get pretty hot, and the mic doesnt come with, so i worry about the quality of the $15 mic

I think they both use the pleather pads so I wouldn't be surprised if both the JVC and the Turtlebeach headsets get hot, could be wrong though.

I would be surprised if the mic on the Turtle Beach is worth $15. If you have concerns about the zalman mic you should be worried about the Turtle Mic as well. If you absolutely need a boom mic, I think you can buy a boom mic from turtle beach and ghetto strap it to your headphones.

I think audio is one of things where you need to try lots of different things before you know what is good and what is bad. From what I have listened to and from others who have greater experiences have generally found 5.1 surround headphones are pretty crap in comparison to what you can get from a stereo headset.

I support Ryken's recommendation 100%. I have listened to these headphones and I found the sound and comfort to be excellent for the price you pay. I only tried it out for 15 minutes though but from what I tried, I liked.

if u want something that doesn't get hot, u are looking for an open ear headset. Otherwise, they all pretty much get hot.

Creative Fatal1ty, Maybe a turtle beach, a razer if you can find one for $50.

What PewPew said. I don't know of any that are <$50 though, especially headsets, I think they are mostly closed headphones.

Open headphones have a better soundstage which lets you pinpoint sounds a lot better. The downside is your sounds leaks out your headphones really easily and if you are in a noisy environment it's harder to hear things.

They are definitely cooler though.

those might not be that comfortable.......they aren't over the ear circumural type of headphones, so they dont like go over your entire ear which are more comfortable.

The creative ones i heard are pretty good and they are cheap, the Plantronics Gamecon 377 is okay from what i've heard too. The ones i recommended the Steelseries Siberia Full-Size gaming headsets are good but you dont like them, they have a good history :P

Found a good deal on amazon, the really high end Plantronics Gamecon headset for only 60 bucks

Here is my list of reccomendations basically:

Plantronics (high end) - [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-777-Surround-Technology/dp/B001KURYAS/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1253502593&sr=8-16[/ame]
Steelseries (The ones I just received) - [ame]http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Siberia-Full-Size-Headset-White/dp/B000V9AU6Y/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1253502688&sr=8-13[/ame]
Plantronics (cheaper one, they make open and closed ear ones for this model) - [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-Open-Ear-Gaming-Headset/dp/B001KUSXXU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1253502710&sr=8-2[/ame]
Creative Fatal1ty (another option/dont think they are as good as the ones above but i hear they are pretty good) - [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-HS-800-Fatal1ty-Headset/dp/B002DS4HTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1253502802&sr=8-1[/ame]
Tritton are nice and the Turtle beach are good, Tritton is out of your price range though.

Love a lot of their headphones but their headsets are way overpriced for what you get. I did some reviews checking and there is barely information on them. I would definitely approach these with caution as the better Senns PC350s are not well liked and cost $100 more.

These headphones don't exactly cover your ear and I've found that style (supra-aural) to be uncomfortable for long periods of time. My recommendation is to go ask your friends and see what they use and give them a good listen and feel.

I have the Creative Fatal1ty USB. I like them, good enough sound, detachable microphone, and they're comfortable.

I had the Plantronics and returned them. Very tight and the microphone sucked (read: low volume, poor quality).

My wife had the Skull Candy's, but they broke, and she was very careful of them. They broke at the part that attaches the bowl to the head band, but it broke at the bottom and on the slider itself, so it wasn't really fesible to fix them. Cheap cheap cheap. Especially for the price...

Right now she has the Razor, uh, somethings. It doesn't say. They sound pretty good. Oh, they're called Carcharias. Odd. They're comfy and look more sturdily designed then the SCs. Time will tell.

I've heard good things about those Carcharias. I have a pair of the Creative Fatal1ty's, but mine aren't the usb model. They sound good and they're comfortable enough to wear for hours. I've had mine for about a year and a half and they're still holding up good in spite of my dogs getting hold of them one time ;)

there's dozens of threads about this very subject.

seriously.

you don't even have to use the search tool, because there are threads on the very first page of the tech forum about this very thing.

dang you for making me post a serious reply! :chair:

FYI: Just Kidding! I know headphones / headsets are probably the most important and most underrated pieces of equipment for gamers. I could re-write one of my probably hundred(s) of replies on headphones.

BUT.

Just for you, and the way I feel about you, I have decided to do the research for you.

Hear you go.

the headsets you guys are posting are out of his price range, and Razer hasn't really been known to make really good headsets compared to the competition according to reviews from sites, they make good other gaming gear though
