ok im trying to install linux i have every thing good to go, well i press enter to install, well it shows the loading of the content the some wierd colors show up like blue black green pick and what not then 3/4 of it goes white with a green bar off to the side. how do i fix this i want linux



specs are

320gb hdd
graphics intel G45/43 exspress chip set
dual core 2.50ghz
and 4 gigs of ram

its a vaio VGC-JS210J

please help me
 
What Linux distro are you trying to install?
Have you tried looking at their official forums and website for help with your issue?
Are you dual booting?(more than one Operating System)

Would help in more detail of what screens you see during the boot process of the install CD/DVD or if you booted to it what screens you get to for the install process. If all your getting in wierd colors on screen while trying to boot and never to an install screen its more then likely a bad burn CD/DVD.

If you are using a well known distro, make sure you downloaded it from an offical download source and ran an MD5 check sum on it. Make sure your burned CD's/DVD are correctly burned by running the checker when you boot onto the install CD/DVD. Once you know its a good burn you don't need to check it again and can move to the full install of Linux. As a first timer to Linux install the default items and do not do a custom install.

ok all im trying to do is dual boot and after i click install it says loading such and such stuff then after a few lines it says ready then the screen changes and then all thes colors show up and slowly fade to black and flash the it splits to 3/4 the screen to white and nuthing happens. it also happens on ubunto and mint i bought ubunto off line from linux.org for free
 
How long have you waited for the screen to attempt to go away?

Is the disc still spinning in drive while the colors are displaying and still after the 3/4 screen?
 
Why not dual boot? Ubuntu has a program that helps with that called wubi, http://wubi-installer.org/ to where you can have linux, but be able to play games on your windows partition. I would give it a try!

Wubi installation is more vulnerable to hard-reboots. I prefer the normal install with GRUB as a default boot loader. :)

If youre dual booting with Vista or 7, use the windows bootloader. Its a good'n & super easy to work with either through the bcdedit command line or easybcd program for you gui folks :)

Even if youre on XP, you should rip the boot loader & install it from a vista system.
 
What happens if you try the LiveCD part of Ubuntu?

I'm assuming it's a recent enough version that they have it anyways. I'm also assuming that you got the LiveCD version as opposed to the Alternate Install/other non-LiveCD version.
 
Ok this is whats happaning is im having a graphics problem with it i cant even boot the cd to try it out i need help fixing this
 
You need to boot in safe graphics mode. It's been so long since I've messed with Ubuntu, I'll throw a disk in and reboot and see what exactly needs to be done. BRB :)
 
My copy of Ubuntu is about a year old, so the menus might have changed.
At the Ubuntu boot screen, Press F4 to change the graphics mode from VGA to your monitor's native resolution and then boot. You can configure it specifically for your system when you set up Ubuntu.
