Abuse in public servers

I'm a pretty junior guy here, but there's been something that's been bugging me lately.


Many of us eGO members have been abused in public servers. Unfortunately, there seems to be an upward trend in this happening. Many members might feel angry, cheated, or wronged. That's fine. What isn't ok is hurling the abuse back.

Show them that we are a mature community, and they will come to accept us on their servers. Show them we are jerks worthy of a ban, and they'll be happy to hand you one.

If the servers non-admin players are abusing the voteban/kick commands, talk with the administration for that server. More than likely, they'll be willing to lift your ban, unless you did something really stupid.


A very good example of what to do in this kind of situation:

Yesterday I went on a random server a jail server to be speific.

The first responise I got was "oh its those ego guys who bann people for stupid things we should freekill him or ban him"

and so they did but instead of banning me they just freekilled me over over again, I did'nt say anything I followed there server rules to the letter.

After 30 minutes of being freekilled gunplanted and killed finaly the admin there steps up and says "Enough guys, it's obvious he's here to play not to cause trouble. The next person that breaks the server rules will be banned"

After that I played for about 40 minutes as a T and decided to switch over to CT.

I followed the rules of the server as a CT and an hour goes by and just as I said Well gg, the admin that stoped the freekilling last time sent me a private pm throw admin and it stated the following. "It seems I have gotten the wrong impression about you guys, I hope you'll come back again and bring more eGO members."

I said defently when we go on road trips, I would be happy to.

I think we should amp up our road trips and show these people that we are mature and respectful and we want nothing more then to game and have fun!

If all else fails, just find another server.

I've been given trouble on other servers because I'm from eGO as well. Usually it's because people hear false rumors, and they misunderstand. The most important thing is to stay mature and friendly, and represent eGO the best that you can.

I haven't gotten much flak off of eGO servers, but then again I rarely venture out of eGO servers anyways.

The only time eGO ever even got mentioned was on another zombie mod server, where a former eGO member recognized the tag and said "Hey, it's a eGO guy, glad I left that clan" but nothing bad really happened after that.

Yep I've experienced the bashing and griefing, but you just gotta stay quiet and deal with it. Eventually they'll either stop or they'll realize we're not there to cause trouble.

Yeah, i have had the same problems/issues when i play on non eGO servers. It's usually just people asking why we are so strict, or why we do things a certain way, and usually when i explain things to them they understand. Now there are always going to be people who rag on us for our no foul language policy or because we ban for "Stupid reasons" like hacking, or mic spamming, or racism, or vulgar porn sprays.....sound stupid to you? Probably (hopefully) not, but not all people think that certain actions are wrong, and people shouldn't have to put up with those ignorant people. That is when we get to swing our ban hammers. But i always love getting people who hate on us and call us losers and other ridiculous names, and by the end of the round when i am #1 mvp with 50 points as spy and i did it by using teamwork and language that even my grandmother would love, they have nothing to say about it. (and i usually get a few friend requests as well) Because when we are on public servers we represent the community, and you better believe that if i am on any pub server with my tags on, and i see an eGO member step out of line, or break any of our rules, you better believe you are going to have some explaining to do.

Exactly I totally agree. The main reason why people hate us is either we banned them because they are jerks, or we act differently from what we stand for in other servers that make them dislike us

I played on another server outside of ego one time with my tags on. They started to give me crap, but I turned on my charm. After about 10 mins of me explaining how we do things, we laughed and fragged each other for a few hours.

Not all crap you might get is really that stinky.

A lot of the hate we get is based on 3rd hand stories of people that were being jerks in our servers and punished. Just be a nice player on pub servers, same as youd be in ours & they normally leave ya alone after a min or two. Try not to be defensive or get offended by the ignorant crap they say, itll only strengthen their belief in the lie. Be yourself & have fun

In the end its all about how you handle yourself....

I believe that as a eGO member, you should conduct yourself accordingly as if any server you may go to is a eGO server, I practice this and have always gotten positive feedback and the in hopes to infect others with my attitude on that server . in the end even if that server or pub has deemed you a problem. Its all about how you conducted yourself in the end.

Please all that read my post, realize that when you put that tag on. your not just a member of a gaming elite community, your part of a name that represents good gaming and a solid maturity.

So forget that horrible admin that spat on your name for no reason. your a eGO!

Just remember while venturing out in the vast sea of servers that you read and abide by the server rules. If for some reason you think you can't or may accidently follow/break the rules it is best to find another server. ex: While out on a road trip for Wild Card Event, a member was accidently team killin. Which was a banable offence. They were not doing it on purpose, but none the less it was a server rule. So they left before getting banned. Point is if we conduct ourselves with the ut most respect on other servers then you should have no problems.

also just to say myself . and this is my opinion. what happens in other servers should stay in other servers. i could care less if an adviser went to another server and hacked. .. also there is already another thread on this. :facewall:

The official stance in EdgeGamers Organization is that, while wearing our tags, you must abide by eGO rules. If you are found hacking in another server with our tags on, you WILL be removed and likely banned from eGO. Same applies for our other rules: don't be going into other servers with our tags on and start swearing, disrespecting admins, or otherwise acting in an inappropriate way. Thing like this have a way of trickling back up to leadership and there are definite repercussions to these actions.
