ATI 5850/5870 benchmarks leaked

more 256-bit memory interfaces? :O /sarcasm

It honestly doesn't matter because they are using GDDR5 memory as someone said before which equals out to 512 bit Nvidia uses with GDDR3 memory.

Does it honestly matter anyway?? look at the benchies the 5870 is pushing out with 256 bit??

For some reason, every website seems to have different benchmarks. My friend was reading one and the 5870 seemed to beat the GTX 295 in almost every game.

its good and all, but it almost seems like a bottleneck(thats doesnt affect it) because the GTX200 series are all using 448-bit and up.

I think that's exactly what it is. The Tom's Hardware review I read used an i7 rig overclocked to 4ghz as a test platform. The higher end 200's have a problem with cpu bottlenecking. My card didn't really shine until I overclocked my cpu past 3.8ghz. I'll have to read the other reviews, but I wonder if the platform they used was stock or only slightly overclocked.

well whatever, im still getting an HD 5850, then eventually a second one for CFX

nice.....watch out, they might make a 5850x2 like they made a 4850x2 but i think it was a sapphire only thing. It was essentially a 4870x2 downclocked and i think it used the GDDR3 memory instead of the GDDR5 memory

Just be on the lookout for a 5850x2

would it be better than 2 5850's? or is it exactly the same, but for motherboards with only one PCIe slot?

x2's are pretty much the same as two cards of the same type. They're good if you don't want to tie up two pcie slots, or if you want to get 2 and have quad SLI/Crossfire

well QCFX is just plain overkill. especially with how powerful these cards are.

haha not necessarily, you will probably just be capable of running Crysis with almost 100 FPS........
The new high end Alienware Desktop with 2x5870 got benchmarked, THEY RUN CRYSIS AT 75 FPS MAXED OUT 1920x1080 with AA and everything, its crazy. And the CPU isn't overclocked or anything, its an i7 975 @ 3.3ghz

Quad crossfire doesn't really scale well compared to tri-fire so i wouldn't expect huge improvements, only in minimum FPS and in super high resolutions will you see benefits of quad-fire. Otherwise, tri-fire is currently the best option to go for maximum performance/somewhat budget

From the reviews I've seen, it looks like the 5870 falls between the GTX285 and 295 in terms of performance, and has DX11 going for it as well. I'd expect the 5850 to fall between the GTX275 and 285. For $380, the 5870 is more than I'd pay for a vid card. The 5850, at $260, is still a little pricey for me. Most games don't use DX11 yet, so I would wait a bit and see what happens to prices, no need to rush and buy, but I wouldn't expect them to fall like last time.

Yea correct the 5870 falls between a GTX 285 and 295 but it manages to beat the GTX 295 in a few games, and it pretty much crushes the GTX 285, it only lags behind the GTX 295 by a few FPS

each review site seems to get different performance though
