Voice In Game

When I play CS or basically any game on Steam, my mic does not work, but while i'm in vent it works? Any one got any ideas?

Have you made sure that the mic in enabled in game. Theirs a tab in the options with some tools check that its not working there.

I'm not 100% sure how CS works with the mic, but also check to see if there is an option to test mic. If that works, check that there is not a push to talk that is mapped to a different button than the one you are using.

Well i've tried both of those and sadly neither seem to work, ive tested enabled and everything, i don't think it works in tf2 either... not positive

Go to sounds and audio devices properties, and then the voice tab. Check to make sure your default device is the one your microphone is plugged into.

Are you plugging in your mic before you open the program? I know that sounds frivolous or even a bit dumb, but that could be the problem (I know that my headset needs to be plugged in beforehand; if not, I need to restart the program before it'll work)

Well that may have been it... though i'm sure I had it plugged in before hand yesterday... but i don't know.

I'm majoring in this stuff and i've learned that stuff can be freaking magical from one day to the next lol
