Been working on my baby

Sorry I have not been on alot, I have been working every day for the past week and I will continue to do so for the next few weeks. But in the few spare moments I had, i worked on my computer. I got 2 new nvidia gt120 512mb mac edition graphic cards. (gt120 mac edition is equal to a mid range nvidia 200 series) I also kept the ATI 2600's xt HDs i had in my mac for a total of 4 graphic cards. Heres some pictures:


System profiler shot: (its hard to see but if you look closely it lists all 4 graphic cards installed.two ATI xt2600HDs 256mb each and two nvidia gt120's 512mb each)

Shot of the Dual link DVI ports. I can now drive 8, 2600x1560 displays at once, 6 using dual link DVI and 2 using Dual link Display Port (those 2 little holes)

I cant wait to test this baby out in INS. :)

Here I thought the title of the thread was "working on my belly" lol.

It runs really cool, The cpus (2xIntel Xeon Quad Cores @ 2.8ghz) run at 35C under load. The Memory is fully Buffered so it runs kind of hot, about 50C. The Case interior temp is around 27C. This computer was really well designed, with different cooling zones, so nothing gets too hot. And best of all, this computer is completely silent.

It may just be me, but I draw the normal limit for computers at ONE video card. All the power to you guys to set these up but I like to keep my computer within limits. I mean there is a point when your not going to get anymore out of a game. Then there is over-kill. AGAIN, I'm not downing this rig because if I could I would build it, but again it would bug me because I never saw the gaming or residential potential for cross fire rigs.

One more thing is that dual processor boards have been known to act up after a long time of use and abuse (such as hard core gaming). I'm not declaring a problem, simply stating what I have heard..

All in all -- Nice rig, I think Its a little over the top for me.

I didn't buy 4 cards, I bought 2 originally (the ati 2600's) because I need to drive 3 displays for video editing. I then had to upgrade the the Nvidia gt120's so I could get GPU rendering support with the editing program I use (final cut) and I thought, what the heck, i put all the cards in at once.

And for the motherboard, it has a 3 year replacement warranty from apple.

The graphic cards are not crossfire or SLI'd because OSX doesn't support that.

i was wondering if its possible to have nvidia and ati in same mobo... i already have dual monitor but I wanna connect 1 more.

nice what kinda of specs i use one with the same processors and 2 9800gts's and 16gb ram but im still on os x 10.5 because pro tools hd dosent support 10.6 yet
