ok this is starting to really aggravate me.
my sound does work. at all.
whenever i test them in Realtek Audio Manager, they work just fine.
but trying to do ANYTHING else, they wont work. no music, no anything.
i checked to make sure it was plugged in,
i checked if the sound was up,
i checked to see the audio manager in the control panel was set to the right speakers,
i even plugged in some head phones and they did the same thing.
i tried restarting my computer, and unplugging then plugging back in the speakers.
and still nothing.
any help please?

In the audio properties, under control panel, did you make sure that the output device is your realtek audio, and not some other device? sometimes another device will attempt to be the output.

otherwise, try heading over to your motherboard vender's website, download the latest drivers, uninstall the audio device under Device Manager, then reinstall with the latest drivers.

+1.

turns out to be faulty drivers.
i uninstalled and now it works. but i am contemplating whether or not to download the drivers again. because then it might happen again.
should i redownload them?
the sound works now, but still.
