ah.... TFC... the good'ol days :D

Use to play TFC all the time... then started playing another mod called Fire Arms... that was entertaining.....

Fire Arms was fun as well, but no where near as fun as TFC. I used to play a lot of the more custom maps like turkeyburgers, murderball, all the 2forts. Brings back some good memories from my high school gaming days. I had an AMD Athlon 500mhz, 384 mb ram, 13 gig hard drive, a voodoo 3, AND a 33.3k connection. The original netcode they introduced was a godsend. I later got into CS around beta 6 i think.

I still like the feature of when you picked up an ammo pack, it only restocked you with what you needed and you could drop it for another teammate, usually the engineer, to use.

Sorry to double post, but that is one feature that I miss the most.
I miss the grenades the least. Grenades quite frequently got WAY out of hand.

ya i used to do that a lot when playing with friends we would get an engy and 3 sollys to escort him and between ther engys ammo and the 3 Solly we could get a level3 sg up and a tele exit in a few seconds behind the enemies lines

Unfortunately I never had a chance to play TFC online, but I started playing TF back in Quake 1 with the original Team Fortress modification. Then I played QWTF, which was the same mod but online via QuakeWorld.

I also played the Team Fortress mods for Quake 3 and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Each game was the same TF we know, but different in their own ways. If that makes any sense.

TFC was the game that ushered me into the world of online multiplayer FPS games. It came out shortly before I went to college and got my first taste of broadband. Before that all I'd had the opportunity to play was Duke 3D, Quake (and Quake Team Fortress), and Starcraft in LAN games.

I would often spend 5 - 6 hours per day playing TFC with my friends. We'd actually get a conference call going in the dorms so that we could communicate with each other. It gave us a distinct advantage over other players back in those days. Ahh... back in the days when I was actually good at FPS's

Oh man. I'd forgotten about FA. That was yet another one of those mods that I played for a bit back in the day. I loved that you'd respawn by parachuting into the map. It was a really unique way to handle the respawn issue in a game that strove for realism.

Yeah, I played it almost religiously. I was a senior member of the AC6 clan, before we disbanded.

I used to love the medic then, heal your teammates and disease the enemy with the same med-pack. EVERYONE had grenades. I used to drop them off the battlements in 2fort while sniping, if I missed someone coming over the bridge (in TFC there was no roof, so sniping was easier on the bridge). Sniping was a little more difficult as you had to hold the left button down to charge the shot and keep it down until you wanted to fire. I can't count how many finger cramps I got from that. :)

Pyro had the napalm rocket launcher, always causing problems.

I still like the feature of when you picked up an ammo pack, it only restocked you with what you needed and you could drop it for another teammate, usually the engineer, to use.

I stopped playing it because most of the servers were loaded with bots, and the fun wore off of killing bots. I could do it myself on my own server if I wanted to do that.

Oh man. The grenades made for a very spam happy game. But I loved the engineer's EMP grenade. Throw it into a group of heavies and watch them all explode.

As for the sniper rifle in TFC, at one point I used a 2-click script. Click once to begin charging your shot, click again to fire. Oddly enough, I found I did better by holding down the fire button and releasing to fire. The biggest thing that really helped the sniper in TFC (some say made him OP) was the fact that you could charge your shot while unzoomed. That way you could continue to keep an eye on the larger field of play and then zoom in for the full charged headshot when you spot a target.

As for the ammo dropping, I feel that was one feature of TFC that really lent to the teamwork aspect. There were many games that I never had to leave my defensive position as a sniper due to teammates dropping off ammo for me and engineers and medics resupplying my health and armor. (An engy could wack you with his wrench to rebuild your armor.)

Eventually I started playing more CS and DOD back when they were still in Beta and then pretty much stopped playing TFC when there was a bit of a split in the community over bunny hopping. (http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2007/09/column_evolution_team_fortress.php)

Yeah I too would spend hours at a time online. Of course, I was single then and could play til 2am without problems and sleep in til 10am. That don't happen too much anymore, usually one of the girls has me up by 5am now. :(

I used to love the specialized grenades. Spies had their "disorientation gas" grenade, pyros had the naplam grenade, and soldiers had the multi-grenade.

I forgot about the engy doing the old wrench armor fix. That was a cool option.

Oh TFC...
I actually tried playing that again a few weeks back, but I completely forgot just about all of the mechanics and got grenade spammed to death.
I still love it, I just can't go back. It was awesome for its time.

I had it as a add-on on one of the half lifes but it wasnt connected so i would just mess around by myself.
