OK a while ago i had a problem with my TF2 game i was getting this hl2.exe error every time i tried to run it. And my dad was going to reformat my computer so i tried to put my steammap folder on a DVD and it didn't work. so i tried to compress the file and that only made things worse. Then my dad decided not to format my computer. So then it only made things worse some more! I have reinstalling TF2 out of steam. that didnt work. I also tryed deleting my TF2 adn steammaps (different times) and reinstalling those... no success. Finaly today i have tryed to reinstall Steam all together! and now when i click on it it says "Updating Steam" and then it freezes! I really want to play TF2 again its been a month and a half since i have last played it and a new update is coming out! Can someone please help me!!

Is TF2 the only steam game you have trouble with trying to play? If TF2 is the only one with a problem then it is something to due with TF2/steam.
Anytime you want to uninstall/reinstall make sure you uninstall all steam games first from the add remove programs area in windows. then uninstall steam after all games have been uninstalled. restart your computer then go into the program files folder and delete then steam folder. go to steams offical website and download the installer of steam. install steam, log into steam, and reinstall your games via download through steam.
Make sure you are using a virus scanner and spyware scanner. Keep them up to date and scan your computer on a regular basis. Defrag your computer at least once a month if not every other week.
If none of this works have your father zero wipe the drive and then reinstall windows. Don't worry about holding onto maps, they can be redownloaded by the server your joining if it is not an offical map or by simply going to fpsbanana.com and getting maps there. Backup what is critical onto a USB flash drive. Flash drives are really cheap these days.

OK i let steam update for awhile and it worked! Now then i let TF2 download overnight and this morning i tryed to launch it and the hl2.exe error came up again!! Can u tell me what i am doing wrong is there somthing wrong with my computer that is preventing me from playing!?!
