Aion vs World of Warcraft

^^^ Great Post ^^^
yesterday i was considering buying this, but now i might just end up renewing my WoW account
still not sure but the things that worries me that you mentioned is end-game gameplay...not sure what the level cap is or how fast you can get there, but that was my one main worry that i would find myself max level and nothing to do after you are there besides rerolling

i'm not comparing the two games obviously because i haven't played them both but the one thing that has made WoW great and successful in my mind is the endgame stuff you can do,

Well if your only concern about Aion is the endgame, I wouldn't worry. It takes a considerable amount of time to level a character, and PVE isn't the only offering in the game. It is heavily PVP centric and you really won't run out of things to do. I would recommend this game if you haven't tried it yet rather than re-activating your WOW account. It's always nice to have a refreshing new game that feels slightly familiar. If you don't think its for you after 30 days, go back to WOW. But I encourage you to try something new and give Aion a try.

There both good, it depends on what you like, I didn't like WoW because I HATED grinding, I got to lvl 34 on a warrior >.>... <.<... Aion, I'm at lvl 32, I'm an assassin, and I love it, I BARELY have to grind, and a lot of it is quests, plus it's good to have some friends around.

What is cool about Aion is that it takes the best of all games and puts them together. I have no played since the release, but I played the last 2 betas. I got to level 23 as a Sorcerer. Leveling was very similar to WoW or GW. Something cool is when you start to cast on a mob hard rock music starts to play.

On Aion once you get to level 25 you get to go to this Abyssal PvP area. Which I never got to experience. The flying if very cool, and it brings a unique and different taste to both PvE and PvP.

I still play WoW..I have a level 80 NE rogue on Kargath server. Just waiting for Cataclysm looks amazing! Blizzard is just to big to be stopped.. They are making a blockbuster movie for god sakes!

Aion will never beat WoW. Blizzard is just to powerful.

Check out Aion though if you haven't played it. Its a pretty good MMO

I took your advice ^___^
Took me pretty much all day to decide but i finally buckled down and decided it was time to give something new a try so, Purchased it on Steam.

The videos on youtube also helped in the decision making process because i had only heard what people said about it before and never seen it in action
and after watching a few videos I am sure I made the right decision ^___^

I will still play WoW but probably wont end up renewing my account until Cataclysm.

I loved to play Wow but I think Aion it's a better challenge.

The only thing I hate in Aion all things are very expensive and too many gold farmer/seller...

I noticed the sellers as soon as I logged in for the first time lol
but quickly figured out how to block them, so they do not bother me much now.

I have to say I'm having deja-vu. Ever since wow came out people have been saying this and that will beat it, guildwar's pvp system is amazing, its going to beat wow, warhammer has rvr, it's going to beat wow, age of conan, amazing graphics and much better lore, its going to beat wow! And we have aion now. I'm sure there's laods of more MMO's i can mention like LOTR ect Bottom line is that i can never see an mmo over-taking wow. The quests alone and the size of the game is massive, with everything so polished to blizzard quaility. The arena pvp is intense, new rated battlegrounds are coming too. But i think there are 4 main reasons why no game will overtake wow:

1. Polish. Bliazzrad are just a company that polish polish and polish games intill they are smooth as a babies bottom. So much tewaking and fine tuning of every aspect of the game, packing it out and cramming it with so much stuff to do

2. Time and money. WoW has already got a 4 year headstart and 2 expainsions on aion, which is alot of conent. Blizzard has had 4 years of time to try different things out and see what works and what doesn't, time that other new MMO's cant get back. Also the sheer resources activision blizzard has and thier money can almost dive a game to sucess.

3. Balancing. The game is ridiculously balanced at the moment. Every build is viable in some role in the game. Every class and build has it's own unique feeling yet there's so much options. I mean look how many classes can now tank, how many can heal, how many can dps, pvp dps, pvp heal, grinding specs, and how every spec is different. Warriors for example use mortal strike and bleed effects with laods of stamina to pvp, while rouges use vanish, sprint, cos and combo points. No two classes are the same.

4. And probally the most important is raiding. No MMO that i've played has managed to match the awesomeness that is wow raiding. The scripted boss encounters and the vastly numerous yet different dungeons over the 4 years has left no players without a challenge (expect WOTLK but thats another issue...)

I'm sure aion is a great game, and with most games they really are a breath of fresh air after playing wow, but after a while you realise that actually there usually massive flaws in the game, unbalanced classes, unpolished parts and generally a lack of content. I think it's going to take something really specail to knock wow of it's perch, the only game i even seen geting close to it is the new KOTR game becuase of the company making it, but im not even sure bioware with a lisence like the starwars one can catch up with wow.

If you really enjoy aion then great play it. But if you like them both at the moment and arn't sure go with wow, becuase the fact that people like me are still playing after 4 years shows that the game has lasting appeal, maybe aion will have lasting appeal but no-one knows yet, my bet is no.

I must say I think Aion wins. I played WoW for a long long time... long enough to have four level 80s at least xD... But from WoW all i saw from the expansions and updates was them making old instances/raids harder and passing it off as "New Content" which kinda lead to doing the same things over and over again just at a different level. As well as making epics WAY to easy to get. A normal instance drops epics now :-/ pft lame. I think the reason people like the game so much is because its so easy to get items that it gives you a since of accomplishment. (which is nice if you dont want to spend too much time on a game to be half decent)

As for Aion the only downfall so far is the MASS amounts of Bots and Gold Spam! I can live with the grinding since i came from older MMOs that required lots of grinding to get places. The grinding isn't to unbearable when you find a nice spot or have a buddy with you. The PvP in Aion is pretty epic too. They have fort battle kinda things where like the whole server fights for a fort to take control of! (and since it a korean style game its pretty flashy. like skills and ect.

So all in all i like Aion better. Just hoping they get rid of the mass amount of bots!

Honestly, you can't even compare the two. WoW has had 5+ years of constant work done to it since it released. It's aged. Aion however, is new. It still needs some work.

I've played both, but Aion is more appealing to me just because it's more in-depth than WoW.

I have played WoW and currently am playing Aion. In my honest Opinion, I would say that Aion would definitely be better. They have their better graphics, character creation, the quests, the PvP and PvE is great as well and the dungeons are amazing and can be fun to play on and if you are that kind of person that grinds sometimes, it will be a little more easier. WoW is also okay but in my opinion, again, their graphics are a little cartoonish, they dont show much for when it comes to creating your character to your likeness, doing the majority of the quests can be a pain unless you use Thottbot. World of Warcraft has an okay PvP and PvE and their dungeons can be fun also and Grinding can be a pain.

Like Im saying, I like both games for their ups and downs but I would definitely say you get Aion.

I tried Aion once and have played WOW.. I have to say that .. I think I would like Aion better bcause of the graphic :)

Wait, you're making a case for Aion b/c WoW's grind can be a pain at times?

Well sir, you are entitled to your opinion, but you must not have gotten that far into Aion b/c 30+ sees an astronomical spike in the amount of xp you will have to grind in order to level.

I quit at lvl 30 after needing only around 6 million xp to get to lvl 31. After consulting charts of the xp curve, which spirals up to 140+ million xp near lvl cap, and noting the serious lack of quest content which then drives people to grind in the Abyss where they are then farmed themselves by PK'ers, I told myself no thank you despite waiting for this game for 2+ years and purchasing the collectors edition (oh those CE wings were so nice for all of the 5 days I was lvl 30 b4 cancelling).

WoW's stylized graphics may not be for everyone and the character creation is quite limited, but take out all of the expansions and vanilla WoW still destroys Aion in quest content.

Many times, the quest content in WoW are linked to a chain that start when you enter a zone and build up to a climax by the time you are ready to exit said zone. It does very well for the level grind while providing a pretty good story, which in turn helps alleviate the fact that you are grinding.

Only during the 1-10 Pre-ascension quest line did I really feel that way. Past that, the majority of the quests felt very detached and separate from one another, except for possibly the times when you were forced to group up and knock out the quests that made you venture into the elite camps and that felt more like an open-world dungeon area where multiple groups of people could be at the same time.

Now I know that NCSoft delivered a patch that helped up the amount of quest xp given, but they were seriously lacking in content past 30 to help you through the leveling process.

Also, thottbot has become obsolete since WoW has a built-in quest helper and tracker.

Ultimately it really comes down to what type of player you are.
Graphic preferences aside, if you are an experienced MMO player, both games still apply. If you are newer to the genre or are just a casual player, WoW will be much more inviting.

If you enjoy a straightforward grind, then Aion is something you would possibly lean more towards. If you enjoy versatility in your playing experience, WoW will probably be a better choice.

Aion borders much more on the hardcore side whether it comes to leveling or Crafting or even Pre-cap PvP (I say this b/c aside from lvl 19 pre-made WSG bgs, WoW becomes very PvP hardcore around endgame) so it will be harder for casual and newcomers to get into it.
WoW is much more laid-back and accessible to the non-hardcore until you get to endgame and even then it's still possible to be casual about it.

Currently 33 cleric in Aion, 30+ not the best for instances (for leveling) until like 35 or 40 but still theres some quests that help out there as well as instances (for some exp, good drops though). its 9.8Mil to get to 34 and Im 5% in an half hour, its not that bad but could be better.

All MMOs have grinds the whole point is killing stuff all the time.

Im mainly waiting for the Aion Vision patch/dlc/w.e because it will add a lot of content and game play stuff.

wat server you guys on
im a lvl 30 tank :D

i quit untill new patch

I've gotten to a level 39 Spiritmaster. I've grinded a lot solo, mostly doing elites, but you know there's just so much you can handle before thinking, "Man this is taking a while, time to take a break and burn some people on TF2."

I wish you would get exp bonuses for grouping up, but it just seems like I'm still better off ignoring people and just soloing. I just inished collecting my Molars for my shoes, so I have those speed shoes now. They help a little bit. *sigh* I need to cancel my sub soon.

I am kinda dissapointed with myself and AION. I bought it got an okay leveled guy and grew completely bored of it. It was a pain trying to find a group to do the blackclaw village thingy or whatever. I was really hyped for it and found it fun but then grew tired of it. I will be looking into rejoining WoW when cataclysm comes out to level with a friend(s) new quest ftw.

AION wins WoW loses, gameplay, character customization, interface, etc. all better. Only that once you buy the game you better have a cred card or your not playing. You need to set up a payment method for at least a month giving you 2 months total. But its really made me angry that I dont have a credit card and am unable to play.

have you played the game?
Aion has

botters all around the game is not good :)
