So I need to buy a HD 160GB to replace one of my 80GB HD in my current machine. When you guys buy a new HD do you go OEM or retail? OEM is cheaper but after having to buy a SATA cable and limited warranty is retail just the better way to go to be on the safe side?

OEM if you happen to have a parts store in your town. i can buy sata cables for a handful of nickels at my store.

Most OEM hard drives come with a 3 year limited warranty through their manufacturer. I'm not sure why you had to buy an extra limited warranty last time, but I suspect you got ripped off. I always have extra SATA cables around so I always buy OEM hard drives, but buying a new cable is still cheaper than paying for a pretty retail box and instruction manual.

OEM. Still get a three year warranty on mine, and SATA cables are cheap as hell around here.
