Hey!
I had a funny idea pop into my head. What is this idea you may ask? Well it's simple really: I'm going to alienate everyone in eGO by listing my to ten favorite albums of the decade.
Now before we get started let me say this: I listen to a lot of Rock and to add to that a lot of Indie/Alternative rock. Also I'm probably going to miss you favorite artists or albums or even genres. Another thing, I'm not going into much detail for each album...mostly because I don't feel like it.
So feel free to give me hell for my choices and be sure to list your favorites.
10. Black Holes and Revelations (Muse) - Coming out in 2006, this album is Muse at it's best. I know it's pretty much love em or hate em, but yeah.
9. Since I Left You (The Avalanches) - There is just something about this one that resonates with me.
8. Hypermagic Mountain (Lightning Bolt) - Loud...that is pretty much all one can say about the Lightning Bolts...well awesome works to.
7. Mclusky Do Dallas (Mclusky) - Pretty much a shoot first ask questions later type of Album. Mclusky really is about a fast, ferocious and funny as they come.
6. Songs for the Deaf (QOTSA) - I love Queens of the Stone Age(QOTSA) and the album is easily their best. Rated R comes in close 2nd though.
5. Excellent Italian Greyhound (Shellac) - Yeah, I know I'm getting pretentious here. This band is headed up by a man named Steve Albini, who just might be one of the most influential in music...ever. He has been an engineer on well over 1,500 albums, with artists including Nirvana and Pixies and even our 7th entry. Oh, and it's a great album.
4. Toxicity (SOAD) - Yep, I went there. Now I'm a pretty big system fan and Toxicity is their best effort. Hit hard and fast opening to their slowish ending it rarely lets up or lets go.
3. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (The Flaming Lips) - It's hard to explain my love for The Flaming Lips, let alone this album...so I wont even try.
2. Demon Day (Gorillaz) - Pretty much the grand unifying theory of music.
1. Good News For People Who Love Bad News (Modest Mouse) - Now I'm stuck with a perplexing situation. Do I go with the Modest Mouse album that got me into them or do I go with the one that is held in higher regrades(Arctic and Moon). As you can see though I went with Good News. It's pretty much them at their most mainstream...but strangely able to maintain their artistic credibility.
